Lovelite - All Color
Record Label: Come & Live
Release Date: November 18, 2008
Who?
Lovelite is an Indie/Christian outfit from California. This is their second national release behind their self-titled, self-released EP. Full-time band members, also the main songwriters, consist of Andrew and Jen Polfer.
How is it?
Great. In this watered-down genre, Lovelite provides an original mixture of mainstream indie-alternative rock, in the vain of Keane and Coldplay, and fuse it with contemporary worship, joining the ranks with fellow CCM-blaspheming The Glorious Unseen (Tooth & Nail/BEC). The musicianship is just as good, if not better, than anything at the top of the ranks of the "secular" industry. Lovingly and gently layering sheets of guitars in combination with extraordinary songwriting. Although the musicianship is incredible, it is only outmatched vocally, which is where this album truly shines. The Polfer couple provide beautifully harmonized melodies throughout All Color; exchanging leads, and also backing each other up. Neither voice outshines the other. Their voices were made for each other.
