Help with a strum pattern.

Could someone help me with a strum pattern for Neutral Milk Hotel - King of Carrot Flowers pt 1.

I just started playing guitar and I have the worse time figuring when to do downstrokes and upstrokes.

I keep repeating the song over and over but the vocals are so hard to get past.

This is the tab I'm going by.
