I can't put into words on want this incredible band has created it is by far a Masterpiece. An Album of precise intriguing detail to beauty and captivating the listener it blends and transitions beyond perfect styles of classical and rock and never clashes and at it is album that you stop and think to yourself it cant be real especially today when a lot music is just not music(crunk/most rap/ mainstream bullshit. This could be album of the year! Just amazing in every possible aspect.5/5

this album might have some of the best percussion of the year (reference title track). as a whole, though, i'm waiting for it to click. Black Holes took several spins, so I'm more than willing to give Resistance the time of day.

so far, first 3 tracks are underwhelming, but Unnatural Selection is pretty cool

I'm really stoked to hear the Exogenesis Symphony. And yeah, Unnatural Selection is probably my favorite so far.
MK Ultra is my favorite so far; I absolutely love the vocal layering/effects in that song. Still haven't finished the album, though.

The closest thing to Muse's magnum opus, for sure. Loving all of it, but Undisclosed Desires, Unnatural Selection, and United States of Eurasia the most.

One full rotation and I'm stupefied. There are some parts of this album that are done so well musically that I can't believe they were done by Muse, but then there are some parts that are so utterly corny, they sound like they came out of a bad sci-fi soundtrack or a horribly overproduced pop album.
I feel like they have totally ditched their guitars. I was ready for some BIG guitar hooks and they never came. I feel like you get more clarinet than defining guitar hooks in the first eight tracks.
I'm all for a band taking risks, that doesn't mean they don't fall flat on their face sometimes. I'm sure I'll get into it on a few more spins, but I think I am definitely headed back to Absolution and Black Holes before I reach for this when I wanna hear some Muse.
I don't know. I was so excited, but... there's something this record lacks. I've heard like 5 times so far, and I still think ther'es something missing. Maybe classic Muse tracks, I guess. Full of awesome songs, but something's not convincing me at all. Love the Depeche mode echos in tracks 1 and 3, anyway.
hope it's as good as or better than BH&R
first listen... not blown away.
Good album from start to finish, but it's too "epic" for me. It's as if they were only going to play some of these songs in a massive arena with a huge display of the galaxy in hyperdrive behind them.
hope it's as good as or better than BH&R
BHR > this, IMO

Bellamy isn't known for his lyrics. Anyway I think I'll wait for this. I still think Origin of Symmetry will always be Muse's magnum opus, or at least the first six songs of it.

After a few times through the album, I'm a little let down. Uprising was good when it came out a few weeks ago, but I wasn't expecting it to be one of the best tracks..even though it is. MK Ultra is definitely my favorite from the album, though.
The biggest letdown, I think, is the Exogenesis Symphony. I was expecting it to be an amazingly epic display of Muse's talent, particularly in the vocal sense. I guess I should have taken the title lterally, though, since a symphony is basically what it is, with barely ay vocals at all. Sure, it's good. Just not on the level I was expecting.
Also, for some reason, the album seems short. Even though it clocks in at almost an hour, it plays through very fast for me.
EDIT: Forgot, some of the lyrics are bad. Almost cringe-worthy, even. Just some, though, not all.

Ok, I gave it a listen, and I'm sure it will grow on me...but does anyone miss the old Muse where it wasnt a bunch of synthed beats from Reason? Ill take the downtuned guitars and a replica of Absolution or Origins any day of the week.
Haven't listened to it yet and won't until the 15th when I get my pre-order. Very hard to do but I'm doin it

I noticed a real absence of guitar, as someone else mentioned earlier. The piano is pretty dominant on this one.
I've given it a few listens; it's a great album, but I like Black Hole's style a little bit more. I feel that this album and that one are two different things, though; not really comparable in that sense. They're moving into a more pop-oriented (not a bad thing) and just overall big sound, minus blazing guitars every 5 seconds. I have a feeling this album will garner plenty of mixed opinions... but I think it's pretty enjoyable.

Well, I'm not much of a Muse fan to begin wih, but since people say they're so incredibly "amazing", my friend suggested I get this and give it a listen.
And I don't really want to be attacked, but I wasn't very impressed.
Some tracks, I could take, but some were just flat-out boring.
Is there anything by Muse that's better than this? Please tell me there is.

I agree. Muse hasn't done much to progress or change their sound a lot which kind of hurts them, but it's a good thing they were pretty goddamn awesome with Absolution.

Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations are both better. Black Holes has a few lame tracks so start with Absolution.

While Absolution probably has the best songs overall, Origin of Symmetry is easily the best album. It's not as accessible as those you mentioned, but after a few listens you start to realize the brilliance of it; especially the first half.

Saw em in concert at the Staples Center 2 weeks ago... absolutely phenomenal.
If you're into marching bands at all, I saw a sneak of the UCLA marching band covering Muse... definitely does Muse justice.
They played MK Ultra, United States of Eurasia, Resistance and Knights of Cydonia

MUSE IS GODLY.
It took me 6 years to see them live but I finally got to earlier this year. Best show I've ever been to
MK Ultra is awesome!!! last 3 songs are kinda hard to listen to though.

Not only is Matt Bellamy from my hometown, he lived on the same street I grew up on. Obviously, he grew up on the street before I was born but it's still a claim to fame most of the users that love themselves around here do not have.

I definitely liked this album a ton more than most other people. It definitely has it's low points but MK Ultra may be one of their best songs ever and the Exogenesis songs are the type of thing I look for in Muse. I hope they don't go soft with their next album though. Need more space opera songs, less of that Twilight gushy junk.
