The technicality spanning the majority of the album is amazing. I can see the Gatsby's comparisons, they rarely go without a twist and they'll throw you a ton of curveballs. Never a dull moment.

I've yet to find a Pop-punk album in the last few months that acually is more than 12ish tracks, or 40 minutes.

I think the problem is that any band trying not to be generic is still locked into a general formula, and it can only be originated so far (even Volcano is fairly short) and if you put 15 songs into an album, it starts to drag on in parts

I just said this to someone else: The Red Tree has certain intangibles that never fail to floor me. It's not in the instrumentation, the vocals, the lyrics, it's in the whole thing, and the way each song comes together. Forgive Durden are better instrumentally than Moneen, but I really feel Moneen wrote something special with The Red Tree. The type of album that really has the potential to hang around for a few years, if not longer. Certain songs on that album are just astounding.

I prefer "Beware the Jubjub Bird", but that and "Ants" are two of the best tracks I've heard all year, and that 1-2 punch kicks off the album incredibly well.

I read the review and it was great. That's why I wanted to grab the leak as soon as possible, FULLY KNOWING that I was going to see them in concert on sunday withing walking distance of my house to buy multiple copies. And I still will.

Now that the link is down maybe people can discuss it rationally.

I think lyrically the album impressed me on the first listen, and the music came around more on the 3rd or 4th. It's not blowing me away, but I'd still but it as my favorite release of this year by pop-punk standards
