Meh, I don't really see their sound changing as a compromise to a major label so I'm not too worried. Oh, and yes the band does very much rule.

Okkervil River definitly deserves every bit of success they get, but they will never be huge or sell out stadiums, which makes very happy. I love them, Black Sheep Boy was amazing 'A Stone' was my fav song from 2005.

i'm pretty sure this means that they're still indie. that is, they're on an american indie label. a lot of bands do this, so it really doesn't matter. i mean, it's quite the accomplishment. but people shouldn't worry too much, especially since they'll probably release records in america first.

This is so good to hear. An interview I read had Will Sheff stating that him and his bandmates were so broke that he doubted they'd last much longer.
As others have said, Black Sheep Boy is an incredible release and I also agreed with the poster that said "A Stone" was his favorite song of last year. The whole dang album is amazing and if you liked this one check out Down the River of Golden Dreams, Mr. Sheff can write him some songs!
