well said..
The term "emo" is simply way to broad now. Every band is referred to as emo.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're right.
I'm currently writing a 10 page research paper on how 1985 Revolution Summer (RoS and Embrace) changed punk music until today. Just about to get to focusing on two main branches: the Fugazi/post-hardcore stream (Drive Like Jehu, Quicksand, etc....on to Thursday and Glassjaw today) and the emo/emocore/screamo thread of Moss Icon, Indian Summer to Mohinder, etc....all the way up to SDRE era bands, and how they influenced today.
I'll post it when it's done.
It is heavily sourced.

"Wrongly" is a word. Please check here (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=wrongly), and here (http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/wrongly.html). Althought I will give you 1/2 credit, I used the word incorrectly.

no, you definitely used it right.
example: "They are wrongly referred to as 'emo.' "

While this thread might be correct, I love being elitist. Watching people get pissed off when I make outrageous claims like Circle Takes The Square is the only good band ever and defend it is hilarious.
