View Full Version : Rec me some new and interesting indie bands

I've found it really hard to get into anything the past month, i'm not sure why. I've searched high and low for some new music, but nothing has really grabbed me. So i'd be really grateful for some indie recommendations. Whether its sugary indie-pop or fast, eccentric indie-rock i don't mind. Anything you would tag indie. So long as its relatively new (last few years maybe?), and interesting - I'm not really looking for bands that are complete clones of a hundred other bands, i'd like something different that will really impress and captivate me.
Diverse variety of instruments (strings, horns etc.) is more than welcomed.
Thanks.

I didn't want to restrict people to posting bands only similar to what i like, so i didn't want to specify any favourite bands. This is good though, i will check out the ones i don't know later, thanks.

Seriously Thrice's new album "Beggers" is just what you need. It's so good.
I always find that Manchester Orchestra does my indie trick, also Brand New's new album 'Daisy' is AMAZING!
Those three are one up's on my list recently.

Thrice's Beggars is great, as well as Brand New's Daisy. Mew's new album is quite excellent, as well as Moneen's. And what the hell, I'll even recommend my own band, just for something different. www.myspace.com/gentlemenandscholars if you dig it, PM me, I'll send you a free mp3

"It's Complicated Being a Wizard" by Portugal the Man is quite good. I'm about to dive further into their discography soon myself.

My friend actually introduced them to me a while back. I really enjoyed "Dust On The Ground" and "What If" from I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose. Great songs.

Yeah, album hasn't been out that long, mind. You heard EPs before the album? You from UK or elsewhere?

The Builders and the Butchers
Sufjan Stevens - A Sun Came (the state CDs eat a dick by comparison)
The Longcut (new album just came out in the UK)
Archers of Loaf (older post-punk/indie rock band, but still cool)
Nothing particularly brand spanking new, but good picks I'd recommend.
