ive read all those except the burroughs, sedaris is hillarious, i also recently read james frey million little pieces, the whole controversy around it was nuts, its a good book though if you understand everything going on with it, i wont lie either im also a huge harry potter fan, palahniuk is great too but i got bored with him, read hubert selby junior he wrote requiem for a dream, his other books are pretty boss too. ive been obsessed with classic stuff though recently like salinger, dumas, orwell, and im currently in the middle of steinbeck

East of Eden is easily Steinbecks strongest book.
During my senior year and summer before college I read every book on the Random House 100 best books ever written. That was quite an accomplishment.
Right now I'm going through No God but God, a book about islam.
Read these books.

Besides a lot of what's already been mentioned, definately read "House of Leaves" by Mark Z Danielewski.
Check out either 100 years of solitude or Love in the time of cholera by Gabrial Garcia Marquez. Beautiful.
Thank God somebody else besides me is a Marquez fan.
A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith is a book that I'm reading right now and it is astoundingly good.
The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love by Oscar Hijuelos is one writer who is more in the vein of Marquez much in the same way that they both read much more like poetry than an actual story.
Any book by Christopher Moore is great but I think Lamb is his best work to date, well written and the funniest book I have ever read.

I understood it enough to read it for a while..but i got to a certain point where it just all fell apart..and gets nasty too. honestly though, you can skip a section or two and not miss anything.
