philly works like this, we ALWAYS follow our teams, we just do so in a pessemistic fashion. when teams blow it all the time, it becomes your nature to expect the worst, and we get ridiculously frustrated at the lack of success, causing insane amounts of analysis of our problems. but we will never stop watching our teams, because to do so, wouldn't allow us to see all of these problems.

i just refuse to root for a team with an owner that DOES NOT CARE about fielding a winning product. ALL the bruins owner cares about is turning a profit. as long as the bruins turn a profit, he will continue to field shitty mediocre team after shitty mediocre team.
no sane person should root for that team.

Absolutely fucking classless 2nd period and last 7-8 minutes of the 3rd period by the Flyers.
A collective FUCK YOU to Ben Eager, Denis Gauthier, Peter Forsberg, and Derian Hatcher from the Greater Buffalo Region.
Ben Eager - you're so tough that you go after THOMAS VANEK? So that's how you racked up 250 PIM in the AHL. Misconducts really inflate your stats.
Denis Gauthier - You look like Sloth from The Goonies, and that might have been one of the more dangerous hits I have ever seen. Vanek is lucky his head was in that position, or he'd be joining Erik Cole in the neckbrace club.
Derian Hatcher - You didn't really do anything "tough" tonight, you just mixed it up with guys 5 inches smaller than you. You've always been one of my least favorite NHLers though.
Peter Forsberg - That was cute, hipchecking Roy in the head while he was on his knees on the ice. I thought you had class, and I had respect for your ability. But no longer.

Yea, most likely. I haven't grown up around hockey, played it my whole life, and watched it my whole life.
I understand "intimidating", but after the whistle shit and hitting people no where near the puck is headhunting. Keep turning your blind eye to the bullshit that the Flyers live for. They've never been a classy team, and Hitchcock has always, always, always sent people to do that shit.
Either that, or he has the complete inability to control anyone on his team, ever.

Bobby Clarke needs to realize that it hasn't EVER been 1975 since he took over as GM, and that the "Broad Street Bullies" shit will never be acceptable again.
The Flyers are a classless organization. Period. It's not just said by Buffalo fans during the playoffs. Any hockey fan (outside of Philadelphia) knows it.

There was no intent to injure. You're just seeing what you wanna see. Gauthier tried to hold back on the boarding penalty. If he wanted to injure he definately could have. He thought twice about it and held back. That's the only reason the guy he hit didn't leave the ice on a stretcher.

If you actually READ the NHL Discussion thread, you would see that none of the Sabres fans were very happy with the Geeky A/V Dude at HSBC Arena's idea to keep playing the hit on the Jumbotron.
If you could HEAR, you could also hear everyone in the crowd stop cheering (Which makes an AHHHHHHH sound on your television set) and go "OOOOOOOOH" when they first showed the hit. Afterwards, they were silent, as the hit continued to be played.
Good game, you lose.

No, I understand chippy play and scrums. I've played in two high school championship games that have gotten pretty intense. I know Grier was out there, he's a player that won't back down, and Jay McKee is always on the ice. I didn't see anyone go after them, who would clearly fight. No, they picked the guys that definately fight all the time, Vanek, Roy, Afinogenov, Campbell...

Miller definitely is not unbeatable. He had 1 shutout all season. Against the Leafs. Last week.
But that being said, he seems to get better when he faces more shots. But only facing 52 shots in 2 games, when the Sabres had 58 in Game 1 alone, isn't going to get the job done for the Flyers.

Well I don't recall seeing that, but it's a little different when it's a close game. You should know that, being the expert here. You want your players on the ice when they're needed, since they can't do anything from the box. But 8-2, I'm sure Grier would've been good to go.

What's the furthest the Flyers have gotten in the last few years? They never seem to change the gameplan, and it doesn't seem to work for them anymore. Like Jerry said, it's not oldtime hockey anymore, pure force doesn't get the job done like it did.

Unfortunately, we're thin for the time being. Johnsson being out is KILLING us. We drafted Alexandre Ricard in 2002 or 2003, and supposedly he's gonna be a decent prospect, but he's way too young and hasn't developed yet. We traded away Seidenberg who I thought had the potential to be at least a steady 5th or 6th D-man.

The Flyers on paper were preseason favorites to win the Cup. The media was ranting and raving about the team they put together and such... we've just been decimated by injuries throughout the year.
Clarke should have tried to pick up a mobile blueliner at the deadline, but it really wasn't worth parting with our young talent to do so, especially since it seems we're a little more than one D man away from winning a cup or anything close to it.

Yea but if you grew up in NJ in the 90s, then you probably wouldn't be a Devils fan either. They never televised any games there. The only way to see a game was to pay extra for the premium channel back in the day. Can someone enlighten me on whether this is the Devils choice to have it as a premium channel, or the cable companies? I mean, its no wonder no one goes to their games. Their games have never been televised in the New Jersey area.

Yea well maybe if the Devils owner was smart he'd televise some games in the 90s when the team was winning cups. Then you can win and actually sell out a game. There are more Rangers fans there than Devils fans.

Fuck Hitch. He complained about Crosby diving during the season. When asked to comment about Crosby Hitch said "I don't want to say anything, I have Chistmas gifts to buy soon".
PlaysWithFire you should know by now that Hatcher is a dirty piece of trash. Its not even borderline good/dirty hits. Its just cheap shots. Now you know why I complained when he sticked Crosby in the mouth and knocked out two of his teeth, and there was no call.
Yes I am a Pens fan in case you couldn't tell.

I hope 5, I need to use my game 5 ticket. I've never had the opportunity to see a playoff game in person, and if they sweep to take that away, I'll be a little sad.
From what the hardcore guys at SabresFans.com are saying...
If the ticket was bought with a credit card, and there is no Game 5, it will be automatically refunded from the credit card bill (and therefore the same $$ can be used for Game 1 (or 3) of Round 2)
If it was bought in cash, I think you have to go to the ticket office at the Hot Sauce & Blue Cheese...err, HSBC Arena and you can get a cash refund. Then buy the 2nd round tix when they go on sale.

Yeah. He took dives alright. Got cut open by a Hatcher punch and then teeth knocked out by Hatcher's stick, plays where a penalty wasn't called. Then he comes back and scores 2 goals including the game winner in OT. Yet all Hitchcock has to comment on is his diving?
Who's the classless one again?

That was one penalty. Early in the season, the league was babying him. Don't be blind to that. They thought he was the savior of the nhl and of pittsburgh and they are shitting the bed just like the NHL's ratings. He was not even the best rookie.

Well whoever bought them can get a refund and then use that money to buy Round 2 tickets, if it so happens that there is no Game 5.
Speaking of which, I'm SO tempted to go to OTB and try to make some money there to buy tickets up in the 300's for Round 2 (if there is one)....This one friend of mine is always making money there.

Rob Ray is a little slow, he's had far too many concussions, Robetalle is just old and cranky.... The only ones worth listening to is Rick, the over-excited play-by-play, and Jim, the color-commentary guy. The inbetween period guys don't add much.

I missed the first 17 minutes because they put it on MSG, but a different MSG than normal. MSG is 56 here, and it always had the Sabres games, including the last two. Today, that MSG is playing the Rangers, and they stuck the WNY feed on channel 73 or 74 or something, somewhere I've never thought to look.

there's a delay and i can't get past it...jim jackson does some games for OLN, but he's the comcast announcer for flyers tv, and i really don't feel right watching games that he doesn't do. it's like a phils game without kalas (which i'm slowly getting used to, but don't like).
