Obviously he isn't as good as Jerry Rice...so don't put words in my mouth/post.
Washington was too good to be a 3rd WR so he cut into Santonio's *FANTASY* Production.
Moving to TEN where he is a questionable No. 1 guy now makes Gage and Britt seem legit in *FANTASY*.

And you are still massively over-rating him...know who else was a 3rd WR (and at one point, 2nd WR), and then went to another team and added zero fantasy value to those receivers...Randle El
Washington is not a #1, he's barely a #2...he doesn't increase anyone's fantasy value at all...he doesn't draw double coverage, he just takes catches

I agree he isn't a no. 1. He is in Tennessee though now because they don't have a no. 1 guy.
I'm just saying he is a good player...I wouldn't waste a draft pick on him in Fantasy but I think he takes pressure off of guys like Gage now. There wasn't even a mediocre 3rd WR in Tennessee last year. Now they have 3 more than decent options.

09/10/09, 08:12 PM
Damn good first half to watch, especially on defense. So weird how the Steelers manage to pull out all of these clutch plays when it matters. Their offense gets shut down for almost all of the first half and then they pull that great 2 minute drill at the end of the half. Titans quick TD drive was pretty impressive, too but Polamalu and Woodley were out, so I think that had a lot to do with it.
Hoping Chris Johnson can put up some more numbers for my fantasy team in the 2nd half.

christ what a hard fought game. This game was a story of missed opportunities for both teams really.
I really thought the Titans played incredibly soft the final part of the 4th quarter and in OT. Horrible game management with the ball and time winding down, and what the fuck were they thinking giving that much room to guys like Ward and Holmes in OT. Seriously, 3rd and 2 and you give Holmes a 10 yard cushion in man coverage? was that serious?
I'm kind of dissapointed in our DB play tonight. Granted Pittsburgh was throwing far more than they were running, but our D line looked great, and the DBs made quite a few mistakes.
And i have no idea what happened with Bironas on those first two FG attempts, but i just knew that was going to be the difference in the game, and it was. Titans blew it, i guess the fact that the Steelers almost blew it even worse kind of softens the blow. haha

College rules aren't the answer. That's a joke.
You play 60 minutes of Football....the rules should stay the same in OT.
College Overtime is only less ridiculous than NHL Shootouts.
If anything, maybe have the team that scored last to tie the game has to kickoff in OT. Or the team with more total yards gets the ball.

Going to be a long season of not being able to run again.
The Titans aren't exactly an ideal team to get a run game working on. You guys run game probably won't be as effective as you want it to be, but it will be there, a lot more than it was tonight IMO.

It's hard to feel really bad after a game like that.
I imagine it's hard to feel very good after a win like that as well though. other than the fact that it's a W.

atleast the Titans won't be running off 9 straight W's to start the season or whatever the number was last year

also, i'm really happy with how the passing game looked. I love love love Kenny Britt. Collins looked great as well.
Hopefully Scaife will be alright. Cant wait till Cook is on the field though.

it's gonna be real tough for the Titans the first few weeks. Texans next week, then the @ NYJ at home against the Colts and @ NE.

Early indication is MCL sprain for Polamalu and out 3 to 6 weeks. We'll see how accurate that is.

Yeah, the bad news is that its up to 6 weeks...the good news is we play the Bengals, Browns, and Lions in that stretch of 5 games, so we can still end up 4-2 without him, and get him back, hopefully, in time for the Vikings game in Week 7

I don't care for it either. The team who wins the toss has a statistical advantage to win the game.
nfl overtime is perfect how it is. i hate people whining about not winning the toss. if you want your offense to get a shot, get the ball back. it's that simple.
if your defense can't keep the opponent from driving down the field and scoring when the game is on the line, you don't deserve to win.
College rules aren't the answer. That's a joke.
You play 60 minutes of Football....the rules should stay the same in OT.
College Overtime is only less ridiculous than NHL Shootouts.
If anything, maybe have the team that scored last to tie the game has to kickoff in OT. Or the team with more total yards gets the ball.
both of those are horrible ideas. having more yards doesn't mean anything at all, it shouldn't be rewarded or punished. if both teams have the same amount of points, it doesn't matter how they got them. also, not all games are tied late in the game. if it's tied 10-10 at halftime, and is still 10-10 after the 4th, should the last team to score really have to kickoff automatically? that doesn't make any sense.
It's hard to feel really bad after a game like that.

it's hard to feel bad after a w at all.
sure, we played like shit. but at the end of the day, we beat a solid team and are sitting at 1-0. 13-10, 34-13, it's all the same in the morning.
we have a lot of work to do though.

haha, well i don't dispute that. Even if the Titans won in OT i'd still be irked by all the missed opportunities they had, that would have kept them out of OT in the first place. And i know you can't really be that upset with Ward with the fumble, as angry as steelers fan had to be when that happend. Things like that happen, but still. Pittsburgh also had a shot to get a FG earlier in the game and blew it with that 20 yard sack. so idk, i guess when two teams are this good you're looking for everything that needs fixing instead of what you did right, especially if you're on the losing side.

No...it DOES make sense.
I'd be completely fine if they continued the kickoff rules into OT...as in, the team that kick-offed the game first then receives in the 2nd half, and kicks off to start OT. That way it wouldn't be an additional coin toss and the potential strategy would come before the game starts.
Regardless, the over time system is pretty fair...here are #'s that are a little older, but prove a lot (if anyone has updated stats, post them)
Total no. of overtime games (1974–2003) 365
Both teams had at least one possession 261 (72 %)
Team won toss and won game 189 (52 %)
Team lost toss and won game 160 (44 %)
Team won toss and drove for winning score 102 (28 %)
Games ending in a tie 15 (5 %)Note that nearly 3/4 of the time the coin toss made NO difference as both teams got possession...and the team winning the toss only wins 2% more than the random chance of the coin, which isn't really statistically significant. The mathematicians that ran the numbers said the coin toss did give a slight edge, but a very minute one
For those that want the college system: I bet you could run the #'s on the college system and find out that the team that wins that coin toss, and thus gets to choose to be on offense 2nd in the first OT, probably wins just as often if not more frequently.
