High School Suicide

Well, in this town I live in (Walnut, California) some kid killed himself in the school cafeteria like one or two weeks ago. it was all over his girlfriend. I actually would have gone to this school if I didn't go to the school i currently go to. Sad thing is i really didnt know much about what had really happened because all the news is filled with war coverage. So i just found out through what people tell me happened. It really sucks what happened though... he was a senior (i am too) and its less then two months before graduation. wow.

Parent Ting Kuo called his daughter by cell phone from in front of the school.

"It's not very good, that's why I'm here," Kuo said. "The cell phone helps. She talked to me and calmed me down."

His daughter decided to stay in class, with friends.

OK. this makes me upset. a very poorly written article. WHO CARES about a freshman being shocked. a need for metal detectors. a parent comforting on a cell phone. It says nothing about the poor guy's friends, or family. how they are doing, how they reacted. A GUY JUST KILLED HIMSELF. let's try to have some sympathy.

and people call suicide selfish. we're all selfish.

its horrible because anyone killing themselves is horrible, and he musnt of been strong enough of a person to not kill himself like that, so i feel bad for him. and you never really know that the only reason was his girlfriend, because there was probobly other reasons that ultimately led up to it

His dad was buming him.

He should of just blown his dad away and the girl ... he just did it for attention .. he is jackoffasaur and deserves no sympathy from no one.

i understand wanting to kill yourself or be dead, but going through with it is something else.

my dad told me once that if any one ever laid a hand upon me, he would personally hunt that person down and kill him, but if i ever killed myself, he would lose all his respect for me and move on with life because i would be the weak and selfish one

that is sad but personally, i don't have much sympathy for people who commit suicide or even consider it. if they really think their life would be much better being dead, then theres nothing that can be changed about that. on the other hand, i do have sympathy for their family members and friends because theres nothing they can do about it and its not their fault in the least bit. people who think about suicide have serious mental illnesses, such a depression and bipolar disorder, and if they really think that theyd be better off dead, then why let them suffer living? my theory may sound cruel, but its the truth.

i agree. i have had a suicide in my family and it was sad and all but it really was what the person wanted so you have to at least think they are free from sadness. but if you kill yourself in school over your girlfriend, its not sad, its fucking stupid. your in high school! its not like your divorcing with kids! it also is better he killed himself than another person. because then you'd have two problems, paying for a insane criminal and an innocent person dead. it would much better if all life-sentenced murder felons had just killed themselves instead, that way, nobody dies thats innocent, and we dont have to pay for those fucks in jail!:D

I guess I agree, i have a friend who tried to commit suicide, if he would have killed himself, I wouldve been so sad....Ive known him for like 8 years. He has some weird mental issues, but hes the nicest and coolest kid i know. Its really sad.

Correct? I mean, death is as much of a part as life as living is, because without death, there wouldn't be a system of homeostasis on earth, death is a neccessity. Now, natural death is obviously the most normal way to go, suicide is probably a horrible thing to do, but if he felt that this burden was too much for him to bare, in his mind, he did the right thing, so was he actually wrong for killing himself? No matter what others think, you choose your own path, and you have your own sense of right and wrong, therefore making yourself the only judge of character there is. In this kid's mind, he figured it was the only way out. To us, it probably was not, but to him it was.

Now, this was his choice...so, you can't claim that he's "stupid" or "selfish" or a "jackoffasaur", because he obviously did it for a reason. If he felt that some girl was a huge part of his life, and he felt that he was going to lose that, he can make his own decisions...and he did. You choose your own pathways in life. It's all part of it.

Have you ever known anyone who turned to suicide? Its not a happy feeling. You have to constantly ask yourself if there was anything you could have done differently to make this person feel like life is worth living. And despite the pain that they cause with their action, I feel sorry for the suicides. Because if they just felt so trapped that they couldnt wait another day to break free, then their must have been something missing in their life.

I would say you are calloused, but that is equated with hardening from constant exposure to death. You are just spoiled. You have obviously never suffered a great loss and until you do you cannot possibly understand what these people go through.

I've tried to commit suicide and now i can look back at it and think how much better my life is and how stupid, irresponsible, and selfish i was in thinking that ending my life was a good way to fix things. I might not know anyone who has commited suicide but I have had many close friends and family that have unexpedily died so i do know what it feels like to loose a loved one.
