"But individual protest has almost reached a fever pitch, as scores of Iraqis around the city asked reporters if it was true that Mr. Hussein was now in the United States (the evidence: that Baghdad fell so quickly, a deal must have been struck). They are also, in greater numbers, beginning to blame American soldiers for the looting that has stripped the nation's property bare, from desk chairs to ancient Sumerian artifacts"

this shows how little the protesters actually know about what is going on, perhaps if they had more facts they wouldn't be protesting...

Sounds a lot like the extreme protesters over here... (note I said extreme)

Protests against the American forces here are rising by the day as Iraqis exercise their new right to complain — something that often landed them in prison or worse during President Saddam Hussein's rule.

I think that is the point that is being over looked the most, even your article wanted to ignore it.

It is absolutely wonderful that these people can protest now, but it is still important to look at what they are protesting against: AMERICAN FORCES. There freedom of speech problem is now dealt with, so now they can deal with other things they view as problems, like American forces in their country.

Ya gotta remember... Yea- they protest. I knew 100% of Iraq would love the US there. Who would?

However

They have the right to protest- so they do.

lets say... 200,000 Americans protested againts this war. Does that mean America is against this war? no. It means that 200,000 of the 290,000,000 Americans voice their opinouns against the war.

In Iraq...

these 30,000 (or whatever number) Iraqis are voicing their opinouns against the US occupation... but does that mean all 22 million Iraqis are against US occupation?

Answer me that.

the Iraqi people have very little information of what is actually going on, so they are most likely protesting with very little info about the situation. many believe that saddam is in the US because he struck a deal with america to give us their country, simply because baghdad fell so quickly.
