Vagrant Records (http://www.vagrant.com) has signed the recently re-formed Lemonheads and will be releasing the band's 8th studio album sometime this Fall. The record is being co-produced by Evan Dando, the band's singer, songwriter, and guitarist, and Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendents).

awesome. new lemonheads material. isn't bill stevenson in the band now? i heard something about Bill and Karl from the Descendents/ALL being his backing band. if so, i'm beyond fucking stoked.

saw them play in December and i was pretty unimpressed. Lemonheads were one of my favorite bands growing up, and it was really disappointing. The performance was kind of stale (if that makes sense). I think they played 1 or 2 new songs which were equally uninspiring. But I will always give Evan Dando another chance and still want to hear this record. I love that Vagrant signs such diverse acts.

And Vagrant continues to reinvent itself as a legitimate, non-emo-specific label. I like this.

I love who while Victory (and most other "emo" labels) are signing generic copies of their own bands, Vagrant is signing bands that may come out of left field but are undeniably amazing and pushing the envelope in new directions. They don't care about feeding the kids what they think the kids will buy, they are trying to use their position to promote amazing music for the sake of promoting amazing music.
