Leno < 12:35 Conan

Fallon is way better than Leno. The only one worse than Leno is MAYBE Craig Ferguson. I'd even take Carson Daly over Leno.

jmirand1
09/14/09, 10:36 AM
You have to remember that late night talk show hosts rely on staff writers for the vast majority of their material. Jay Leno has an awesome presence as a host and interviewer, but the ultimate quality of his new show will depend on the backstage talent.

I'm clicking the "like" button on the second half of your comment. I don't hate Jay's show but he has stolen many skits, segments, and monologues over the years. I like Conan and Fallon for the fact that they do things a little differently and I like Letterman because he has a late night show for the intelligent mind.

Honestly, he did a shitty thing last night, but I feel so bad for the dude when it comes to his mom. He said he talked to Taylors mom last night and I'm sure she probably said the same thing to him that Jay just did "What would your mom think of what you did?", that must have killed him.

tambam
09/14/09, 07:54 PM
Seriously, was he not aware that he'd get a hell of a lot of backlash for what he did? Did he think it was a good idea at the time? I feel bad that he lost his mom, but he should have known better and I really don't feel bad for him right now.

I really don't think that's a good excuse. Maybe he shouldn't have drank so much in the first place. Being drunk alone doesn't make someone do something that crazy.

WarpSpeedChewy
09/14/09, 08:05 PM
I thought Kanye's apologie was a step in the right direction. Doesn't excuse what he did but it's always good to see someone becomes less arrogant in that way. He seem genuinely regretful. People have done far worse.

09/14/09, 08:05 PM
I never said it was an excuse. just a fact. and yes, being drunk alone does make you do something that crazy. how about getting behind the wheel of a car?

No, you kind of already have to be somewhat of a dumbass to do something like that. And I'm sure everyone knows that Kanye is an egotistcal douche who thinks he can get away with pulling shit like that. Alcohol certainly isn't the only thing to blame here. I remember reading a quote where he said he was going to do the same thing when the Dixie Chicks won over Gnarls Barkely in '07. He clearly already had it in him. So yeah, by saying you think alcohol alone is enough to make someone do something that crazy, it seems like you're using the alcohol as an excuse.

I've actually spoken to a few people that either defend him or think the whole thing was staged. I really don't understand why people wouldn't just defend the actual victim of the whole situation. The end may be near for the Jay Leno show, according to a report on FTVLive, an industry blog.

According to the site, NBC executives have deemed Leno's 10 p.m. show "a failure" that is not making the network money, and have decided to pull the plug. Citing anonymous sources, the site said executives have not yet decided when to pull the show or what may replace it.

In an e-mailed statement, an NBC spokeswoman said the show has performed exactly as anticipated, adding thought that it had created "issues" for affiliates.

“Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today," said spokeswoman Rebecca Marks. "As we have said all along, Jay’s show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network. It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve the performance.”

NBC, part of General Electric (GE), has ordered a record number of pilots and FTVLive speculated that some of those could be contenders to replace the talk show.
