Incredible album. It took me a while to get into it, but it's great. I have my freshman year roomate to thank for this. Appreciate. PS: What album should I get next?

Tom Waits takes a long time to grow on you. But yeah, fantastic album.
Where next? That's a tough question. Rain Dogs is smack dab in the middle of his disco.
His newer stuff is pretty good (Alice and Blood Money especially), but Closing Time is very good also, despite having a very different feel.
I don't know, go modern I suppose, and maybe work your way back?

Alan, you have some of the best taste on this site, not to mention that you seem like an awsome guy  Thanks for the rec's. What's your favorite song off Rain Dogs?

Thanks a lot dude. All the same to you. I think I developed a slight crush on you when I also found out you're a physics major.
Favorite song, though?
Well, easily the song I've listened to the most is "Singapore", simply because the first 15 times I tried to listen to the album I couldn't get past it. But then it grew on me and has a tender place in my heart.
As cheap as it is, my favorite might be "Downtown Train" (or maybe "Jockey Full of Bourbon" or "Hang Down Your Head"). Shit, it's hard to choose.
What about you?

I definitely know you mean with "Singapore" and the same would probably apply to me. As for favorite though, it's probably "Anywhere I Lay My Head" (it's amusing that my favorite song is where his voice is probably the most grating, which would initially have kept me from listening to this album) or "Rain Dogs".
Did you say you were taking a year long quantum course? Shit, even I only have a single semester and my professor was ridiculously bad so I didn't learn much/do to well. Also that'll teach me to load up on classes the semester I take a class like quantum haha.

Those are quality songs.
Yeah I am. So you're telling me it's gonna be shit-tough? Well I'm not taking much else in the fall (some hopefully cake music classes and an online class), so hopefully it won't be too bad. Did you at least enjoy what you learned?

Yeah, I thought it was really interesting. I wish I had had more time to devote to it though. I figure I'll look through my book this summer and hopefully some more of it will sink in. It probably wouldn't have been nearly as bad if my professor wasn't awful. You'll probably be fine though, especially if you're taking some cake classes. I was stuck with Electromagnetism, Language Theory & Computation (really abstract and theoretical computer science...avoid like the plague!), Probability Models, a history class, and tutoring. So yeah, you'll probably be just fine. haha

Jesus Christ, why would you do that to yourself? What kind of stuff did you cover in the course?
I'm kind of nervous about the spring. I'm taking Quantum 2, Partial Differential Equations, Honors Readings Conference II, Analysis of Bioengineering Systems, and Biomedical Electronics.
That could be my undoing.

Ouch that sounds tough. I'm assuming you've taken ODE's since you're taking PDE's. You'll have to let me know how PDE's are in comparison since my school doesn't have offer a course. Where do you go to school, by the way?
