Reports are that Say No More (http://www.myspace.com/saynomore) won the MTVU/Drive-Thru Records (http://www.absolutepunk.net/drivethrurecords) contest. Look for an official announcement around May 4th. And if I'm completely wrong, throw rocks at me or something.

So does this mean they signed to have their album released in 2010?
fuck this contest. the best unsigned bands are brightwood and search the city. oh and new atlantic but i can't remember if they got signed.

out of the top 5 this was def the better band. they arent too bad. i msure a good producer will make them sound good

i noticed that too, but couldnt remember what song it was.
i had heard 'hit me with your best shot' at work earlier today, and was like "damn, where to i know that" when listening to this song.
they are totally bland and uninspired.

The man has had a fuck load of probelms in the last couple of years beyond his control things are finally shapping up. Your going to see some amazing releases this year and then the ball will be rolling this label is not far from dead or extinct.

Yeah this surprises me about Drive Thru as well. This band is just ehhh. I have been hearing that a band from PA has been making a stir.

So another band added to the roster that they will simply sit on. It's a shame that a number of good bands with contracts with DTR are going no place. No promotion, no recording, no releases. I assume they have their problems but these bands are losing any momentum they may have had. I'm just disappointed.
scenic attraction definitely should have won, but they will be free to sign a contract with a different label now anyway, which is a win in my book. and in response to whoever said the reines' had nothing to do with the contest, the contest said outright that votes were part of it but richard and stephanie and jordan from NFG (and I think one other person, maybe Vinnie from IATA) make the actaul choice.

I agree with the people on here who were talking about scenic attraction....oh well...maybe this will end up similar to being 2nd on american idol...the get all the exposure of being on the show, but aren't roped into an awful deal with a shitty label (although despite it's problems I really don't think drive-thru is a shitty label, they've just hit a rough patch that I put back to them losing all their best bands to geffen)

who are you reffering to? if its the bands who have been signed and havent releeased anythign yet its because they were signed swithout having their albums written only a couple demos which made dtr want to sign them. bands like the track record, madison, adelphi, even socratic took time to write their albums, its not dtr's fault . they arent "sitting" on them. and im sure this contest winners contract is not the same as a usual dtr band's im sure its alittle like a try out contract
lets break it down for you
Drive Thru signed a fuck load of new bands that they love, usually cuz those bands send demos to label trying to land a deal. For most of them they've released their share of either an EP or a full length. Their are bands who have gone through alot of changes since they've gotten signed Morning Calls For example just found a new singer finally, even though they've had their cd almost recorded for a while.
Adelphi has been going through finding new sounds and such, they've recorded a tour EP which can be found @ DTR's website AND at shows. Jenoah lost a member and are trying to fix their problems....
It sucks when a label has signed a band and the band goes through a few changes really not good but who are you to say that they give no promotion? Your just retarded than.

Scenic Attraction is sooo much better. (Thank god, now they can sign with a good label that won't put them on a shelf)

Ugh I give up arguing why DTR sucks, there will always be some fucking know it all asshole defending their name (what do you want from this? a chance to raid the DTR merch room OMGZzzz!!!11!!!). This label is all about favortism and it always will be, fuck your whole bullshit theory. Where is trust when you need him. I'm too lazy too shoot out with this ***.

eh average band, i really love DTR but they better fucking sign someone that dosent fit in...maybe other band(s) that could make the sound that the originail bands had.

I think they only won a deal to release an ep on the label, I'm not sure though.

hey guys
ive grown up with the guys in scenic attraction, been their friend for years, and even was filling in on guitar for a few months a couple years back.
its nice to see your nice comments about them and ill make sure to relay this.
i talked to them not too long ago and they said they've gotten offers because of this contest, and are probably gonna sign in the near future, so you'll hear from them asap.
