Ok so i've been really considering buying one, especially since i heard there is a side scrolling Mario game out for it, btw if you have a link please post it. But i see that they're going to be releasing DS lite. Should I just wait and buy a DS lite or wait to buy a regular DS when the price drops when DS lite comes out. Also what is the DS lite release date. And what games should i get if I do get one.

buy the ds lite. it's a much sexier system and you'll regret not buying one later.
there are tons of games to buy, it all depends on what you like to play. i'd recommend mario kart, trauma center, brain age, kirby, and if you're playing online get tetris or metroid prime hunters... so many good games to choose from.
haha all I know is that my boyfriend has a ds, and i bought nintendogs..its cool for about an hour, than it gets boring. not that you guys are running out to play nintendogs

i'm not too worried about the looks, can you play DS games on a gamecube, cause i know my girlfriend has a gamecube and didn't they come up w/ some adapter for a ds?

no sir, that was GBA adapter. You can't play DS on a gamecube because, lets face it, the whole point of the DS is the touch screen.

i got one, and I love it...though i only own like 4 games for it, and all i play is Castlevania lol
its a solid system, all in all, but if you dont have a GBA, just get one of those.

You can look up stuff about the new Mario game at mario.nintendo.com and if you look up the game on gamespot.com.
The DS Lite has no confirmed release date. The New Super Mario Bros. comes out May 15th.
Here's a pretty decent comparison video. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gsyh-Wsr1Ho&search=Ds%20lite%20comparison)

It depends on which game you play. Kirby is strictly touch screen, as opposed to some of the other games which use the touch screen sparingly.
GBA games do work on both the Lite and the normal DS.

GBA games do, GBC games dont
and yeah, ylou do need the touch screen when playing it, but unless youre hard on the stylus, you wont fuck it up easily (I have mine covered anyhow)
i dont use my DS for gba games. i prefer using my SP

GBA has a ridiculous amount of games available. I know a DS is kinda expensive, but I would save up to get one. You can probably grab one off of Ebay with some games for a decent price. It plays the GBA games and opens up a whole new door for the actual DS games.

Hmm i'm not too worried about alot with it, just mainly having entertaining games, i wanted a DS because of the mario game coming out mostly

thats how i am with castlevanias. i actually bought Dawn of Sorrow before I got a DS just in anticipation
but there are plenty of really good mario games on GBA that will hold you over until you can afford a ds (like superstar saga, totally incredible)

yeah a GBA SP or Micro is cheap and has a huge library.

i would personally avoid the micro tho, very hard to hold, plus the SP is less oney right now, and has some awesome colors.

Dude I would definitely suggest getting a DS. I was extremely skeptical before I got mine, but it was so worth every penny. There are already a bunch of great games for it, and there are a lot more coming soon.

The DS is worth every cent. I was so skeptical about the system before it came out but then I got it and Nintendo cast aside all my doubts. It's fantastic and you will not regret it. You get a truly new experience for a handheld. I would get this over the GBA since you can play the GBA games on it.

I'm not a person with money to throw around, but I can say that honestly, the amount of enjoyment I have gotten from Mario Kart DS was worth the price I paid for the system. Factor in the upcoming Mario game, and a system I never planned on getting becomes a system I'm glad as hell I got.
edit: Hell, I'll add the word 'skeptical' to my post to make a hat trick with the last two posts. Although it certainly accurate: ANOTHER game boy variation with a potentially stupid gimmick, but it becomes gold in the hands of Nintendo.
And, since someone requested it (I can't tell if it was you or someone else with these god damned avatars):
