Actually, Jesus said he was the God numerous times. Not sure what you are going for here, but whether or not you believe the bible to be true doesn't invalidate the fact that he was very clear about being one with God the Father.

So how do you interpret 'one with God the Father'?

I have little doubt that Jesus existed.

Do I think he was the son of God or in any way non-human or devine? No.

What I think is that he was simply an evangalist with a compelling personal history. His story has lasted through the years (and has been built upon) based on two common traits of public interest. The first was fact that he was a martyr for what he believed. The second is that he is the epitome of the "rags to riches" plotline that the masses have adored for centuries.
