I'm just starting to get into this band, and need some advice from some experienced listeners. I like "Sweetness" and "Always Be" best from what I've heard.

I'd start with Bleed American, then Clarity. I imagine others will disagree, though. I like JEW but I'm not a super fan.

Do NOT start with Bleed American.

Start with Futures and Clarity. Or just listen to 23 off of Futures first...and you will be hooked forever.

sorry? start with Bleed American... it may not be everyones favorite but its definitely the most catchy and the easiest to listen to. Futures is probably my favorite... but BA is where I'd start.

good call, I've been meaning to listen to JEW too, because Bleed American is the only record of theirs that I have.

Listen to Clarity, and if you like that, you'll love futures, and then get into BA and CTL.

I say Bleed American, but that's probably just because it's the album I started with and that spawned my love of the band. It is a solid album all the way through, though.

Just listen to 'Goodbye Sky Harbor' ... one trip through that song and you're hooked.

Ps -- you might want to bring a snack, it's a long song.

Not sure if you should start with Clarity, but it's my favorite album, so listen to that.

this band is one of my favorites. Clarity is great, but its nothing like what they sound like now, so I would start with Bleed American and then Futures and then Chase this Light. If you don't wanna do that, then start with Futures then go to Chase this Light, then go back to all the old ones. Just my opinion :)

Clarity is their best and most important album. Regardless of "what they sound like now," I'd say start with that one and move forward chronologically, so you can get a feel for the band's progression. I'm a bit surprised no one's chosen Static Prevails; it's a great (and apparently overlooked) album. It sounds nothing at all like any of their other albums, but it's still recommended listening. If you're looking for the complete picture, start out with that one.

That's a good question, and also a difficult one. I would start with Clarity, since it's my favorite album overall. But "23" is my favorite JEW song (off of Futures), so that's also a good start. Their new album and Bleed American (or the second s/t) is the most prevalent/mainstream sound. I think it really just depends on your musical preferences.

I agree with Chris also. Static Prevails is a great album also, but keep in mind that Tom (guitarist/backup vocals currently) was the lead vocalist at that time. It'll be difficult to adjust for a new fan, but it's also good to listen through their discography chronologically to listen to their gradual progressions.

Definitely Clarity. It's their most important and recognized work.

You can't go wrong with anything '99 and on.

Bleed American. it's the album that got most of their fans into them, including the one's that lie and say they've been listening since Clarity.

First album I listened to was Bleed American, and it quickly became my favourite. I know it's not "cool" cause that album is majorly mainstream, but it doesn't make it any less awesome. Then go to Futures, and Clarity. This was how I listened to them, and it just felt perfect. Each album made me love them even more. But make sure to listen to Clarity. It is indeed a classic.

I said Bleed American because it's sort of in the middle, chronologically and stylistically.

Chase This Light is easily the most accessible in the discography. Start with that and then Bleed American.

I started with Chase This Light almost two years ago. And this July I bought Futures then Clarity then Bleed American. I waited way too long because every album is amazing. I say you start with Bleed American and then go on from there.
