I'm going to Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.

Niagara University in Lewiston, NY.
But the closer I get to going there, and the more I hear about it, the more I think I'm going to hate it there.
Too bad I'm already enrolled. I give it one/two semesters before I'm going to UB (SUNY Buffalo). Or community college, depending on what major I'm doing.
I'm only a junior, but I plan on going to Columbia College (in Chicago) when I graduate although I'm not sure going so far away from home is a good idea for the first year.

I'd so go for it, unless you are really close to your family.

i've heard that school is very, very good.
i've heard that school is very, very good.
Cool. See, the thing is, I'm not sure what I want to do exactly. It HAS to be something to do with the music industry, but I'd like it to involve writing and graphic design or something. I'd also like to learn audio production.
I'm also only a junior... looking into Boston U, USC (DREAM SCHOOL), UNC- Chapel Hil, and UT.
I wish I was a senior :( One more year of HS does not seem very appealing.

Boston is a great college town. With something like 300,000 kids in a 50 miles radius there are so many people to meet and such.

Yes it is. There is so much to do it will take you all 4 years to get to see and do everything you want.
Northeastern University in Boston
Are you going to do the 5 year program or 4 year program or is it totally different. When I applied I wanted to do less co-op and graduate in 4 years.

I havent got accepted but I will and Im going to go to Portland State University. The admissions guy said any oregon person with over a 3.0 gets in automatically. I have a 3.5 or 3.7 [weighted] and I have almost a 1300 on SATs so if I dont get in.... wtf.
Its the only college I applied to because:
1. Its cheap
2. Its one of the better oregon schools
3. I want my parents to pay [they will only pay if i stay in state]
4. I dont know what I want to be so why spend a lot of money?
5. I dont want to leave Portland. Only other place I would go is Seattle but see reason number 3.
AND the big reason. All the money I save in comparison to my brother goes to a car. I shall be getting a $15,000 car for freshman year. Im excited.

I pretty much have the same problem.
I'm going to San Francisco State University and depending on how much I like it I'll probably just transfer over to San Diego State.

i dont understand this. how can the parents want you to do the best you can when you cant even look outside at much better schools. a 3.7 with a 1300 gets you into a lot of prestigious schools. and honestly why would you spend that much money on a car? i bought mine used for 9k and it is wonderful. save yourself more cash and get one used.
there is a much bigger world out there than oregon. i feel half the experience of college should be living somewhere different from where you are. i went south and i love it. im only 4 hours from home but va has a much different feel than nj. if i stayed in-state i would have never had any experience like this.
i dont mean to berate you on your choice but it seems like you didnt even look anywhere else. it is true you dont have an idea what you want to do but im sure you have some idea of where to start. what if the school has a shitty program?
I'm a junior, but I'm looking at UVA, Vanderbilt and Texas

Penn State University, also the kid going to Portland State, dude, there are much better schools out there and you're obviously not an idiot and your credentials are very very good.
But I'm in the same sort of bind, my parents would only pay for in-state schools, but it didn't matter to me because I've always been a Nittany Lion, and now it's just official.

To me, UVA isn't worth it. Go to Texas.

Who knows, UVA is one of those schools that you look at some of the kids who get in and are completely dumbfounded. JMU is like that too though, I'll see really smart kids get rejected and then a student with a 2.5 get in. This year has been crazy watching the seniors.

i remember in an article in the star ledger for the sports section it had an article saying "where is hackettstown?" and no one gave them a chance cuz hopewell valley was like #15 in the state or something and then hackettstown ripped them a new one 2-0. i was at the game and it was intense. there whole school was there...like 3500 students while like half of my school...around 550...were there. we were outnumbered and it was getting ugly. but somehow hackettstown came out on top.

Yea my small school always had a good turn out too. It did suck losing but we always play Morris Catholic in the finals and they are alwasy top 5 in the state. Oh well. I won the baseball state championship, so that made up for it.

Something to think about for all of you:
I am almost done with my freshman year of college. I am pretty close to my family, but I decided I had to go far away. I am from Dallas, Texas and chose the University of Missouri-Columbia. I absolutely love it here. The idea to get away from everything high school related was the best idea I ever chose. I still love my friends from home, but it makes it even sweeter when you only see them a few times a year. This plan isnt for everyone, but all of my friends that have done it, have loved the places they went to. Im about 10 hours from home and its great. Good luck with all your choices.

If you want somewhere out of state, and you're looking for an art school, you should check out Pratt in nyc. I visited this summer and I could tell by what I saw that some quality teaching went on in there. If you're looking academics I wouldnt look towards UT (unless you're going for a law degree). Don't get me wrong, I like UT as a school and Austin is a great town but if you're goign to go somewhere based on academics then I'd look for something more than UT. Now there might be specific majors that are better there than most but for the most part a UT degree is nothing special unless it's a law degree.

and good luck on A&M! haha yea, if you're from Texas you're either a UT or A&M person. UT all the way for me :)
I'm one of the weird ones. I was a UT person who went to A&M.

If you want somewhere out of state, and you're looking for an art school, you should check out Pratt in nyc. I visited this summer and I could tell by what I saw that some quality teaching went on in there. You should also check out RISD (rhode island school of design), it was one of my top choices but I was waitlisted.
Yeah, but I kind of have to look in-state for a school. If I get a scholarship, that's great, but the in-state thing would really help, because of the discount. My family's just normal-blue collar, and we're always in great shape financially but out-of-state colleges are still alot of money, and if I don't get a scholarship the chances of that are lowered to almost nil. But yeah, I've heard of RISD, and I'd love to go there. Pratt I hadn't heard of but I'll keep in mind. Thanks!
