Below is the official update for the Motion City Soundtrack (www.motioncitysoundtrack.com) Commit This To Memory re-release. The disc hits shelves through Epitaph Records on June 20th (http://www.absolutepunk.net/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=661&c=3).
Hey Boombox Generation! Want to know a secret? OK. Motion City Soundtrack's "Commit This To Memory" album is being re-released on June 20th! The deluxe edition will have brand new artwork, a bonus track, and a DVD with over 3 hours of footage! Included in the DVD will be a documentary on the band, all of MCS' music videos (including a BRAND NEW VIDEO for the song LGFUAD), and a live concert from the secret 7th Street Entry show in Minneapolis that we filmed as the kick-off of the Commit This To Memory Tour earlier this year. Stay tuned for the details.

Damn, that sounds good. This may actually be worth re-buying
They can fuck themselves if the live show isn't a full live show.

if the show is the full show, then I might consider this. I hate rebuying cds....especially when the one I have is fine

why does every band re-release their most recent cd a year later? and why do they always come packed with super sweet extra single bonus track and dvd chock full of boring footage? and why do the true fans who bought the first pressing get screwed out of the new song/footage? they paid the same price, except they don't get any of the new content. this didn't happen 3 years ago.
perhaps downloading is rampant because the consumer knows they can download it now, wait a year, then buy the re-release with extra freebies?

No, I'd pretty much guarantee you that's not true at all.
Downloading is rampant because it's easy, seen as victimless, and extremely quick. Moreover, music is seen as inferior to other forms of entertainment in many ways. There are contributing factors (overpriced albums, horrible albums, etc) but the main reason is outlined above.
It takes only a minute or two to download a song. A full album can be gotten in ten to twenty minutes. If it took 10-20 minutes to download full-length movies, video games, and other forms of entertainment, then I guarantee you that would be a huge issue.

I bet the bonus track is Monsters Invisible.
If it's a full show, this may actually be worth buying. But I liked the cover art for the original so much...

Then you and re-releases have something in common.
Why re-release? Just put new songs/dvd with next cd.

The DVD does contain a FULL live show...and the documentary part is very well done, interesting, and funny. I would say its definitely worth picking up. The video for LGFUAD is pretty sweet too.

i was just thinking that. why re-release the album? why not do a dvd/cd like mcr did?

the live show cant be complete, because justin played back to the beat while they changed the tape, but i'm guessing its got a ton of other footage from that show, there were so many cameras there
Shit like this makes me regret supporting the band by buying their stuff the first time.

I really really really hate this trend of record companies rereleasing "special edition" cds like this. Its just as rediculous as when movie studios do this with DVDs. I've been fortunate though that no band that I like has gotten this treatment at least not with a cd that was worth rebuying anyways. Unfortunately it looks like that streak has ended. At least it looks like they went all out to make it worth rebuying it though I guess.

I never brought this album when it was realised so I may just have to pick this up!
