I'm a guy that screams. I am not musically gifted enough to do anything else.
I used to be in a band called O Great City. www.myspace.com/ogreatcity but I came to Nashville to go to Lipscomb University. Before I left we had the pleasure to play shows with such bands as Oh, Sleeper, Vanna, Haste The Day, Project 86, For Today, Gwen Stacy, The Chariot, A Plea For Purging, Corpus Christi, Agraceful, and a ton of great locals as well as Cornerstone Festival.
I'm a devoted Christian, and would at least like a positive band preferably straightedge if not Christian band.
I'd like to start a project with some post-rock and Indie influence along with the Metalcore/posthardcore influence.
Bands I would like to mesh the sounds of are:
Sigur Ros
Explosions In The Sky
mewithoutYou
La Dispute
Oceana
The Earth and Everything In It
Deftones
Oh, Sleeper
and "Lost in the Sound of Separation" by underOath
What I (we) Need:
Drummer, at least one guitarist, bassist, possibly a keyboardist
If you can sing you get bonus points
**Requirements**
Christian or at least friendly to / open minded about Christianity
16-20 years old
practice 2-3 times a week, ability to play shows once we get some songs down
TRANSPORTATION
**Practice Space** I live in a dorm. I can't practice here.
If you or someone you know might be interested let me know.

Tl;dr
Your old band sucks.
Christians are dumb.
underoath sucks.
Your musical taste sucks.
You're a crazy fundamentalist right-wing nutjob.
This band won't get anywhere.
I hope you burn to death.
This is why some people shouldn't be allowed to reproduce.
Oh, boy another underoath soundalike band.
There, I think that covered most of the responses I'll get
You're trying to mix a blend of post rock, new-skramz, new jack post hardcore, metalcore and ******ry?
Delusional.

Do you know whats delusional? People on this site not being open minded to stuff. Everyone on here is a closed-minded asshole. If someone likes a band you don't, then that person automatically deserves to die, right?
Unfortunately that's true. The point I'm making is that the op is trying to mix whatever is popular within selected sub-scenes and trying to create something new, which is great. But i just don't see a melodic-ambient-post hardcore-metal group. It's downright stupid.

Popular subgenre + popular subgenre + popular subgenre = brokeNCYDE. OP is clueless.
C'mon, he calls himself genericore. Seriously? He builds into his own genre that he is generic. What a fucking tool.
That's a nasty way of putting it.
op: give up. Your dreams are fruitless and are like that of a jew in a concentration camp.

Only if you have autotune on it, and you can borrow your sister's hair straightener.

It's an amalgamation of the words "generic" and "hardcore/metalcore/whatevercore" meaning that I was in a band that sounds almost exactly like all other bands in said genre.

You have got to be kidding me. Envy? City Of Caterpillar? All bands that have succeeded doing that style of music. Keep boxing yourself in and making ridiculous judgments on people though. Maybe he just digs all of those sounds enough to attempt mix them? Get out of here.
OP: Sounds like a great project, and I totally hope you find what you're looking for. Keep me informed if you find anyone. I'm a fellow screamer/growler/whatever, and I know its not easy to find musicians sometimes to create a vision in mind. Best of luck broski, keeping it all for Him who loves us!

Thanks man. I'll definitely let you know if I ever get anything going. I honestly laughed so hard at the Brokencyde comparison in this thread. One of the reasons I even posted in here was because I figured the resulting thread would be entertaining enough.

Absolutely ridiculous. Awesome man I hope it goes well for you. I would love to be doing something in the same vein. If you get a chance check out my old band www.myspace.com/thezombiesurvivalguide.

Yeah no problem. Did you guys ever send it to like Indie Vision Music? Those reviewers would eat it up. They gave Son of the Morning a 10/10

http://www.indievisionmusic.com/ It's a lot like ap.net except Christian based and they are much more accepting of metalcore and hardcore stuff. It's pretty interesting sometimes how differently they view things than this site. I still like AP more just because there are a lot more posters and more discussion but IVM gives a different perspective at least and they review a lot of albums that other places don't. I think they'll review anything that gets sent to them.

No problem. My old band was going to send our EP in but it never got finished so we didn't. I think this is the guy that we were supposed to send ours to as he does the heavier music stuff stephen@indievisionmusic.com so you should just email him first to make sure it's cool. I think they like a copy of the artwork, tracklisting and lyrics if you can provide it all.

Ah, we only released it digitally, but I'll see what I can scrap up, I already sent an email to the generic support email, but I'll resend the email to that guy. Thanks a ton man, I really hope you find the musicians you're looking for.

Haha, nice! Totally using that! Our drummer actually did all of our flyers. We had an actual artist all lined up to do the album art and everything, it was going to be sweet, but time kinda flew by and we didn't get the chance to get it done. Using it though.

In no way did i mention COC or Envy, you tool. The point i'm making if the guy is wanting to create something unique, how about NOT mixing 1,000 genres and going for something that isn't popular at the minute?

I just took all of the genre's you said it was "delusional" to mix, and presented examples of bands that have done it. Since when is post-rock popular at the minute? Have you ever stepped outside the realm of the internet? Heck, for every kid that's a fan of "metalcore" there are ten more fans of Toby Keith or whatever's hot in country right now. Are you so delusional to think that this scene is really popular?

You're barraging me with a set of insults that seem to have no holding. COC and Envy do it well, and post-rock/nu-skrams is well incredibly 'trendy' at the moment within the scene here. Maybe you yanks haven't caught on, eh?

I think we can only conclude here that Australia > Kentucky, musically and educationally speaking.

Actually I'm sure it is. Most public schools in KY are horrible but I was blessed enough to go to a couple good ones. I'm going to have to start using "Go back to school" as my main insult and come back from now on.
