It appears that keyboards are killing cursive handwriting (http://news.slashdot.org/story/09/09/20/2351248/Cursive-Writing-Is-a-Fading-Skill-mdash-Does-It-Matter?from=rss). Do you remember how to write in cursive?
This poll is in conjunction with this week's Technology Round-up (http://bit.ly/APtech092109).

I put "mostly" because there are a few capital letters that I forget from not using them in years, but for the most part I remember.

Woah. I definitely don't think I had to do that. That's crazy.
There hasn't been a situation where I was asked to write in cursive since I was probably in the 5th grade.

No. It spells Rirruto, except those are supposed to be Z's. But he's a baseball player, so that would be cheating.

It's the only way I write. Printing is so much slower.
My handwriting is a sort of printing-cursive hybrid. But I do the majority of my notes for class in cursive.

Not at all, I can barely write my name. But I have sort of morphed printing and cursive together to where my extended letters have loops like cursive and all the letters are connected. It really shortens writing time.

I write my name in cursive on anywhere I write my name. Also, I can do all of the letters undercase, but I don't really know how to do capitalized letters so if it's like the beginning of it I just put its non-cursive equivalent then finish it off w/ lowercase cursive letters.

I'm the same way. I didn't pay attention when I was young and learned to print. Which means that although I obviously know how to write in print, it's ugly as sin. And while I can write at a pace that catches up to my cursive, it's then all-but-illegible. However, in 3rd grade I actually paid attention when we learned to write in cursive. And though I got yelled at for writing too small (which I still do), I made good grades and was excited about learning it. Consequently, it's all I use for personal and most other uses. The only exception is filling out forms, for which I use all capital letters for clarity.
My handwriting is a sort of printing-cursive hybrid. But I do the majority of my notes for class in cursive.
I HATE SCHOOL AND I HATE ALL OF YOU! I'M NEVER COMING BACK TO SCHOOL, NEVER!
I think that's what most people end up doing. They claim that they write in print, but they string all their letters together in a cursive style and pick and choose.
My handwriting is like looking at eighty different peoples' it's never the same, it swtiches. Yes to the cursive.
Haha, you need to at least figure out what your signature looks like. Otherwise you're going to have serious issues when it comes to people verifying your checks and whatnot. Here's my advice: Sign your name really fast and keep doing it until you get something that you like and that you can do repetitively. When it comes time to sign apartment leases (where you literally have to sign almost every page of the contract), you'll appreciate being able to sign quickly ;-)
The last time I wrote in cursive was on the back of my ACT... it was pathetic.

Maybe they changed it now, but i know for my year the SAT had a portion that you had to copy that was essentially an agreement not to cheat or reproduce the test and what not, and it couldn't be in print. Although when I was a junior in HS that was the first year they had the essay portion of the test, so maybe that part was new as well. Since you're older than me maybe it wasn't on your version? I'm not really sure I just remember feeling embarrassed at how much time/concentration it took me to do that lol

Oh yeah, that. That's on most standardized tests, although I'm pretty sure they wouldn't dock you points or invalidate the test or anything if you just printed and connected the letters.

Haha! I was just having a discussion with someone, and for some reason this topic came up. My friend asked why we had to learn cursive in grade school, and I had no clue now that I think about it. I still remember some cursive, but a lot of it was lost in the past.

I can, but I struggle with some capitals. It's not because of keyboards though. It's because once I got to high school they didn't require it, and I found printing easier.

I still remember it. I learned it in first grade and used it up to fourth grade. In fifth grade we were finally allowed to print, but then I moved to Ireland where they had me learn a newer, simpler method. I know both, and I like the older one better. It looks pretty fancy. Both methods take me forever though, because I have the urge to make sure every letter is slanted at the same angle and at the same size. Now I just print, although my letters are still attached by faint lines from never picking up my pencil/pen.

You should upload a picture of your writing a sentence in each of the styles and upload them. That sounds interesting.
Never understood the point of cursive.
My handwriting is a mix of print/cursive. However, it always looks like shit when I try to write strictly in cursive... Doesn't make sense.
And for whatever reason, writing in cursive for me takes twice as long. /fail

I never had to learn to write in cursive, because I had a learning disability in school. I just scribble when I have to do a signature.
