Mae free show in Virginia Beach, VA

Last night Mae played a free show at a park on the oceanfront in Virginia Beach as sort of a hometown show before the headed out on the (A)fternoon tour. They put on a great show and all seemed to happy to be playing at home again. They played for a hour and a half or so, and it was one of the best setlists I've seen in awhile. My memory may be a little off on the order but they played:

Ember and Envelopes
The house that fire built
Suspension
Summertime(since it was the last day of summer)
The Ocean
Someone Elses Arms
Breakdown
Crazy 8s
Just Let Go
Soundtrack to Our Movie
Sun(Dave played this acoustic)
Tisbury Lane (Just Dave and Zach)

Haven't seen this band since they opened for Yellowcard a long time ago.

Singularity turned me off.. how is the new stuff since then?

Yeah, I hadn't seen them since before Singularity either because, well, I didn't like that one much either. I think their new stuff is much better than Singularity, they only played two songs from it last night so I believe they don't even like it that much. The new stuff sounds alot like Destination:Beautiful atleast in my opinion

Only thing I see missing is We're so far away, but I'll be ok if they don't play it if we get those songs. Although thats my favorite song by them, and definitely one of my top 10 songs of all time........

Thank you, him and Dr. Cox are my favorite 2 on the show, but I couldn't find a cox picture as good as this so I chose this one.

and just for bragging rights, and mae played acoustic after their show and said they were done, about 15 of us who were left begged dave to play We're so far away, and he said he couldn't because it was a piano ballad, and we all told him if he played it we would sing it. And then we had a sing along of the song with him

Oh that is so not fair!!!! I must say I am very, VERY jealous!!! We stayed around to see if they'd be back after they finished but they never came back.

maybe because it was like a random free show, they usually do a donation optional acoustic show after show for charity, but we just wouldn't leave until they played we're so far away :)

Yeah, you're probably right. The people around here can be dick sometimes about stuff at the oceanfront. That's pretty awesome, I haven't seen them in so long that I didn't know they did that. I would have begged it from Dave had I know. That and The Sun and The Moon. I love that song!
