Hmm, anyone know what opening week sales were for Gutterflower by Goo Goo Dolls? Just wondering how this compares to that one. Louder Now came out a little lower than WYWTB (around 170k, right?), which is kind of odd since I felt MakeDamnSure was pushed a little more than A Decade.. Should have kept going with the original titles. ;)

If saves the day would put out a music video then sales could start doing a lot better. 30k? that is a shame for such a solid album.

gutterflower sold 101k first week , i think it's around 800k now for a total.

82k first week is pretty good seeing as though they had literally no momentum from the last album into this one.

how the fuck did godsmack outsell TBS?
It always amazes me that there are THAT many people out there who listen to bands like Godsmack. I guess that's the power of mainstream radio though....it's just crazy.

Definitely happy to see Goo Goo Dolls did pretty well, considering so many people (including me) didn't know they had a CD coming out until a week beforehand. - the CD is incredible. Saves the Day sales will grow with time - just like the CD itself. It's an amazing album, but takes a few listens through to really sink in.

Thanks for posting these numbers, guys.

Ah, ok.

Well, here let me say what it always is:

1) Fall Out Boy
2) P!ATD
3) Brand New
4) Taking Back Sunday
5) Green Day

They can shuffle from week to week, but it's basically the same :)

Panic! is selling more than FOB is now. that's pretty cool for them i guess.

I really want to see Hit The Lights selling more records. I know I bought it off of iTunes. Love the bonus track you get with it (this is a stick up)

Does the iTunes Music Store get factored into these resaults?

this is interesting

TBS on VICTORY sold - 163,000
TBS on WB sold - 158,000

not really that big of a deal- the last victory release had a lot of fans wondering what it would sound like with two new guys and they had the same basic promotion as this one, making the videos on mtv, end of episode videos and the leak and all that jazz, and tbs has always been one of the bands that can do no harm on fuse.

its not that big of a drop, itunes probably takes care of a majority of it

if they were 30000 less in sales i would be worried, but 5000 isnt anything to worry about.

i was thinking the same thing. There's something wrong with the world when Godsmack sells more copies in one week than Sufjan Stevens has sold since July 2005.

anyway....

every week when i see the posts in this thread i am just reminded how people in the news forum have no idea about anything Music related outside of the scene. seriously, you guys think the scene is so big and everyone bows down to the bands that are posted about on this site. when in reality its the exact opposite, a majority of the population hates 95% of these bands, its fact. when you guys are bitching about how godsmack outsold TBS you must be on crack. if you honestly thought TBS would outsell godsmack youre a dumbfuck. and stop bitching about hit the lights and pnchline numbers.....seriously go ask a random 20ppl if they have heard of either of those bands and they will be like "shut the fuck up you emo bitch"

I am about 95% sure that WYWTB sold at most 140k in week one.
And generally the record label "push" doesn't help the week one sales as much as it does the week 4-20 sales. It is why FOB and AAR are still selling 20k a week.
