More like Discus, amirite?
That said, all I've heard so far are Ignorance, Brick By Boring Brick and whatever else has been acoustically played. So probably Ignorance at the moment.

anytime I listen to an album i give each song a grade from 1-5...divide it by the number of songs offered, x2 = Grade. So if there are 10 songs that are all 5 pointers, that would be 50 points x 2 = 100 (impossible ha).
okay this is my 1st listen...sometimes it takes a few tries to enjoy it.....here we go, im doing this as i listen....
- careful (3.5 points). The start of the song is VERY misery business haha. It's not bad..I dont know how I feel about it being the opening track, the instrumental break downs are a bit borring and slow paced. For a Pessimist was a much better start off.
- ignorance (5 points). Solid, fast, fun single. I was very happy the first time I heard it and it hasnt lost its luster yet.
- playing god (3.5 points). I can smell this song growing on me...at first I was like, okay this is "thats what you get", the chorus could be faster but i like it. The song could use a better hook somewhere.
- brick by borring brick (3 points). This is probably the first paramore "single" that I actually cant get behind. The chorus is a bit borring, and the "bury the castle" line seems oddly placed. The ending to the song and the "bah dums" couldve been used more frequently in the song.
- turn it off (2 points) Medium pace is my least favorite hah...and this is neither nice and soft, fun and fast, or really anything that special.
- the only exception (3 points) The feel to this song is very Angus' ish very soft and endearing...but then the vocals are very Avril ish, loud. A very simple song that's for sure. This song had potential to be one of paramores first great slow songs...but it was missing something. Chorus couldve used something, its a very repetitive song.
- Feeling Sorry (3.5 points). Okay after two slower paced songs, it was time for something a little more fun and fast...and this song tries....and this could be one of those that I like the more I listen, but again what's with these weak chorus'? All these songs are beginning to sound really similar and muddled, (what RIOT wasnt). Average'ish....ill give it another chance.
- Looking Up (3.5 points ). Maybe I need to take a break or something because wow each of these songs arent differentiating themselves from one another. Ignorance seems to be the only fast song so far, what's up with that? This sounds kind of like a NFG song. That little break-down towards the end of the song is cool, why didnt' they do more stuff like that in this song. "I cant believe we almost hung it up...we're just getting started"...damn talk about not being subtle about what almost happened to the band haha. Paramore isnt taking many chances here so far with this album, is my only complaint as of now.
- Where The Lines Overlap (2 points) Meh. That's all i got for this song. It's as if each of these songs have potential, but they went the safe route for each tune. Definite initial dissapointment with the album. "I got a feeling if I sing this loud enough you'll sing this back to me"...well this willl be a good crowd pleaser live. That part of the song was fun and had a chance to break out like in Riot's born for this, nope. Christmas bells?
- Misguided Ghosts (4 points) This song beats the shit out of the only exception, in terms of slow song....and it actually sounds different from the rest of the album and their previous albums. Good slow song very good. The only reason it doesnt get a 5 is that it does get a bit repetitive. I'd love to hear Hayley do this live.
- All I Wanted (2.5 points), Woah didn't see that coming. Another slow song? Check out those pipes at the end of the song! ha. They didnt utilize Hayley well in this album at all. Well I certainly see where Paramore was going with this album...they decided to dump the lets make every song different, fast, and fun...and maybe tried to attempt a mature/slow sound? I dont know if im into it.
Overall analysis. Not as good as Riot. End haha.
Best Song: Ignorance (i hate picking the single)
2nd Place: Misguided Ghosts
3rd Place: Careful/playing god/looking up
35.5 points/11 tracks = 3.24.
3/5 stars. average. but maybe some of these songs live will be better.

You didn't follow your own formula... You said you give it a number from 1-5, divide by the number of tracks, then multiply by 2. Then you offered an example that you have 10 tracks that each get a 5. Well that's 50/10 = 5. Then 5x2 = 10. If you made it by 20 rather than 2, you would get 100.
So following your formula, this album gets a 64.8 from you. I haven't heard it yet, but that sounds like a very bad grade. Is it that bad?

hmm well i guess that would be true. there were just NO stand outs from this album like in riot where every song was BOOM! different, fast, fun, unique, catchy. not here, not here.

That's so depressing. I was hoping for excellence. I knew nothing would top Fences (my favorite off Riot), but I was hoping it would still be solid. Does it even have the same play-all-the-way-through playability that Riot had? Even if the journey all the way through isn't as good?

well when I first started listening to Riot...i actually had been anti-Paramore and thought they were just another run of the mill lame scene band....but Riot surprised me and I ended up becoming a fan.... this album seems to regress back to their original/mundane music. The song "teenagers" on the Jennifers body soundtrack shouldve been on the album.

This thought have been subconsciously running through my head. Now that I read it, I realize how true it is.
I voted for "Turn It Off", but I'm immediately second guessing that. "Brick By Boring Brick" is great, it gets stuck in my head so easily. After every listen to "All I Wanted" I feel a soft spot growing for it. Same with "The Only Exception." Jeez, I should've wanted longer on my vote. With only four full listens, I obviously still don't know.

I hated The Only Exception, although Paramore is one of my favorite bands, I couldn't take that one.
My favorites are Careful, Brick By Boring Brick, Turn It Off (this one really grew on me), and All I Wanted. Her voice is amazing in the last track.
But as of now, Careful tops all. I just love it.
Careful. the "more" part. Brick by Boring Brick sounds good, but I really don't like the lyrics.

I went with "Looking Up," but it was a tough choice. I was debating between that, "Where the Lines Overlap," "Careful," "Brick by Boring Brick," and Ignorance. I really like the whole cd, but those are just the ones that stuck in my head after the first listen.
Brick By Boring Brick is my favorite. The Only Exception is a close second.

whoa. missed this one.
it wasn't at first, but looking up is actually one of my favorites right now. i instantly didn't like the only exception, though. i initially liked playing god and feeling sorry, and they really fit in on the record, but they aren't nearly as good as the other tracks.
so, basically 8/11 good tracks, that's an above-average ratio. then take into consideration just how good those good tracks are and we have a very good album on our hands. for me, this one tops both riot and awkif. i love watching this band grow.
