Their first album will always be one of my favourites...their second album I hated it the first time I heard it, but after seeing them play live when their second album came out...it grew on me and it most def is good! I really only like the first half of the album cause it's more poppy than the rest...I don't like the seriousness! YAY for AAR...they are such fun boys!

i played out the first cd so much that i can't even listen to it anymore. i don't really listen to enough of their newer stuff to really compare. all i know is, there's a lot of good and bad memories attatched to their first cd for me, so it always brings a smile when i listen to it.

It won't. They've been away for a hell of long time, and they've even cancelled an opening slot for Simple Plan's Canadian Tour for the sole purpose of fine-tuning WTWCD, and I can promise you that it will all be for something.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but the point I was trying to come across is that they opted out of opening for a band that's huge in their hometown (or home country) to beef up their album. I mean, Simple Plan, from what I can tell, is pretty damn big in countries outside of the U.S.

I own the physical copies of all their CDS (wow that makes me soooo coll lol), and I have loved them forever! When those stupid bionicle commercials came on with "Move Along" I got giddy with happiness just because i loved them.
All three of their albums, in my opinion ar ecompletely different. opposite sides of the spectrum.
The American Rejects (the album) was really power punk-y, (time stands still being my favorite track- just putting it out there) and for that genre it was really good, I like every track on the CD
Move Along BLEW MY MIND "Top of the World" was such an entity of itself (is that the phrase? Im going braindead) because it was a kind of F THE MAN OHHHH YEAAAAA kind of thing that was just completely awesome. And then you have "Dance Inside" and "It Ends Tonight" that were just toally different and a little more mellow, and then you had the fun songs like "change your mind" and "11:11" and the whole record was just great.
When the World Comes Down was totally cool because it was so unlike the other two CDs. It was less polished a little more raw, filled with more emotional lyrics ( i guess) and it had a less pop vibe and a more overall mellow and just-go-with-it-cuz-we-rock kinda vibe.
I love all three cds, i love AAR, and yea... they rock

Good point. But it takes a certain kind of, I dunno, mental and physical strength to be able to do that. Tyson is waaaay to much of a sun-tanned hair-straightened priss to quit without the whole rehab/council affair.
Besides, I'd say that Gallagher probably had some kind of outside help that the public didn't hear about.

Swing, Swing is a great song, but I always think of Dance, Dnace when I hear the title haha.

hmm interesting... I don't really know what one is better in my mind but I'd have to say that the lyrics in Dance completely won me over.
Move Along and Dirty Little Secret are decent songs I reckon... They don't measure up Swing of course, but they weren't bad.
Gives You Hell is another interesting one. I like the concept of it, like the way it's worded and structured. The video is great though. Tyson was awesome it. Almost made up for the House Bunny performance *gags*

All I have to say is, if he was on drugs while making the latest album: quit.
If he was not: keep doing them until your next album is finished.
Haha this. He is going into the embarassing drug addict territory (if he is indeed on drugs, if not he just looks out of it) and clearly it's not working for the music.

they'll be back with good songs I bet....
I don't know much of their stuff beyond Swing Swing, Night Drive, Dirty Little Secret, Move Along, and Gives You Hell. I had the Move Along album and never really go into it. But the reason why I'm posting is because my buddies wanted to watch them at Warped this year, and they were the last band of the day, so I stayed. That Tyson guy has to be the most annoying performer on the face of the planet. He kept shrieking into the mic and just about made everyone's ears bleed and he kept doing stupid shit like "look for his megaphone" which had "disappeared." It was just insanely lame and corny. I'd rather a band play as many songs possible in a 40 minute set (Broadway Calls is amazing at this) than have 20 minutes of songs and 20 minutes of pointless ranting.

That's either poor planning on the band's part or they're just stupid when it comes to performing. It's sad to say, but some bands do not know how to perform well.
Why did these guys get so fucking weird?Listening to move along now, it's a good pop rock record. but that last effort :jester:

"Sunshine" is a stupidly good song. I think all of "When The World Comes Down" is amazing. Why do people hate it again?? I'm definitely gonna pick up this band's new album when I go back to university in a few weeks and get my next student loan through!!

I am one to say I loved Move Along and the time it came out but I can do think Kids In The Street is this band's best work. I know some people are stuck on their debut which is good but I love when bands mature and create elegant, layered, and limitless music. The elements that went into Kids In The Street are just perfect and the diversity of the tracks is great. I don't think its their catchiest album while it is their poppiest and regardless of that fact I find it their best work yet.
Move Along didn't stick with me the way s/t did. And I liked When The World Comes Down, but because of the negative reaction to it, it took me a while to actually check it out.
Now that I know Kids In The Street is out, I'm going to go to the store and pick it up now if it's affordable. Hopefully then I'll have something to contribute.

Hope you like it. This album is far and beyond unlike anything they have ever done but it is the poppy side of pop rock done perfect. It is a rather flawless album that shows diversity, good use of different musical elements, layered synth, and powerful vocals and choruses. The album has less fast songs than past albums and has a lot more unique songs that I would not even call acoustic but are mid-tempo to slow. Affection is a ballad that roars into a power ballad. Bleed Into My Mind is a synth tinged beat to great lyrics and vocals building up right before the climax with a pure synth line into a big chorus and guitars. Walk Over Me is a southern, honky tonk rock song that sports synth and a bouncy beat. I For You is an acoustic song and is really good. Kids In The Street is a very 80s pop inspired yet dark and reflective tune.
The best part of this album as a whole is that each song portrays a mood so well. I did not expect to like the album this much. I expected to really enjoy it but this might be my AOTY. This is just fantastic and show so much improvement and musical maturity.

I walked to the nearby record store right after posting earlier and picked it up. It didn't grab me on cursory listen, so I'm going to definitely have to listen to it when I can pay attention. But it seems like with a few more listens I'll like it. "Kids In The Street" and "Walk Over Me" were what stood out to me the most out of the songs I hadn't heard before ("Someday's Gone," "Beekeeper's Daughter")

Did you get regular or the deluxe edition. Just wondering. Yea give it a bit of time but when you really focus on the moods and the each layered element you will love this album.
Yeah, the album's definitely something that grows on you. The melodies perhaps aren't as instant as they were on past records but when they click, man they're good.

Regular. I couldn't bring myself to fork out another $4, even though I like the color of the deluxe edition more and it had four additional tracks, though only one additional song.

technically 2 additional songs. Do Me Right and Drown Into Me even though Do Me Right is a demo. The Demos for the songs on the album are very interesting. Drown Into Me alone though is worth the 4 bucks imo.
I pre-ordered it signed a while ago in advance.

I didn't realize the preorders were signed. My copy of Move Along is signed, but that's the only record from them I've ever preordered, and it came signed as well. I have a signed shirt, but because it's signed I never wear it. It's 7 years and old and has probably been worn a handful of times, which is a shame, because it's an awesome shirt. I should find it and just start wearing it.

The signed Move Along sounds awesome. I love that album. This was a deal from Interpunk for pre-orders. If I ever get a chance to get signatures from the band I am going to get my Japanese release of Move Along singed because it contains the two 7" bonus tracks on the cd.

Eyelash Wishes and Kiss Yourself Goodbye
Fully produced songs that while did not make it onto Move Along came out great and came on a 7" with some of the limited edition vinyl release of this. Eyelash Wishes and Kiss Yourself Goodbye both appear at the end of of the Japanese Move Along track listing though.

Hm. I know both those songs. I got Eyelash Wishes off of Sony Connect back when that was a thing, and that's one of my favorite AAR songs. I forgot that's when it came out and that it was a bonus track.
As for Kiss Yourself Goodbye, I have that in my iTunes library as "unreleased." Not sure where that came from. But it's pretty muffled sounding.

Yeah, not exactly sure how to do that, unless it's on iTunes or something. I'm not paying a crazy amount to track down the Japanese version, not when I somehow bought multiple normal versions. I remember there being like 3 copies in my room at one point that summer before I gave them to people.

Check the b-sides thread or just seach the name of the song with mediafire at the end on google. Nobody will fault you own the album and buy music normally. The b-sides are easy to find online but besides that it is a pain.
