Purchased a Bass...

I was out looking for

a) a nice fender jazz bass
b) Epiphone EB-0 or EB-3

however- they were all ultra expensive.

I had $350 in my pocket ... and most of the crap i wanted to buy was like $500-$700.

So i'm like... crap

So the guy who owns the place heard my plea and got out a black Gretsch. Hey- it looks like a Gibson/Epiphone! Holy Crap- and its $250- hell yes. The guy was saying that the maker is very well known and is heavy in the old rock'n'roll bands. I was like hmm.

I got it home and am playing it- good sound- nice nice nice... however

I go to the forum for expert opinoun.

Did i just buy a no name peice of crap?

Gretsch has a very nice acoustic sound for guitars...

welll yea- i could have- but my last bass was a fender p-bass - and i wasnt too impressed. I was really looking for a jazz bass.

It seems nice, as long as it sounds nice. The best least-expensive basses out there are Essex. They rang from like 100 to 500 i think. The people at talkbass.com love em and most of them are hardcore bassists.
