How do you give up 4 runs in the 9th to the Royals after going up 2-1 the inning before? Ridiculous.

If the Pirates won the world series, I wouldn't care if the went 0-162 the next season.

At the rate they are going, suffering through 14 seasons, they have a lot of making up to do.

yeah i totally understand that, but it was just this game, we pulled ahead going into the 9th and i figured the game was a lock, especially with jenks coming on to pitch but they walked like 4 batters in the 9th and the bullpen just looked sloppy. And then we started to rally in the bottom of the 9th but it wasn't enough.

I was just disappointed, I was looking forward to watching them win tonight cuz I had a crappy day.

yeah the gm(i forget his name) was an idiot he passed on vlad and traded kazmir....

steve phillips. worst GM EVER. he works as an analyst/commentator for espn now. they were busting his balls BIG TIME about getting rid of kazmir at some game a few weeks ago. it was grand.

Oh the pressure of being a GM in New York. It's a lot harder than it looks. You were like 8 games out when you traded Kazmir and people were calling for a big deadline deal to "get into the playoffs". He did the best he could do.

oh i totally know. i would love and hate that job if it were mine. i just thought phillips was a bad gm as an "outsider". i'm a yankee fan but i pay attention to the mets as well.

I'm sure he could have done better with a trading chip like Scott fuckin' Kazmir. I'm sure Kazmir himself could've pitched better than Zambrano down the stretch.

That wasn't Phillips though. That was Jim Duquette. He's another genius.

Phillips made some horrible stuff happen..none was worse than Duquette getting rid of Kazmir though.

there was also a movement by Leiter and Franco to get rid of Kazmir, because he rubbed them the wrong way during spring training, and went to the owner of the Mets with their feelings on him.

And when he struggles in his first start his confidence is blown by the media and he was rushed. It's lose lose. There was no way he could've known Kazmir was going to be as good.
