it was a terrible movie. it wasn't funny. it relied on cussing/farts/sex/etc... just like south park, which is also not funny. i can laugh at that stuff too, even though it's not my type of humor, if it is clever but they're not.

But South Park is very intelligent and subversive. I'm not saying it's not crass and offensive, but I would argue that it can be pretty intelligent. Same goes for Team America.

WHHHAAATTTTT? It sounds like you missed a lot of the satire in the film, and South Park for that matter. For instance, they modeled the foreign cities after how Americans perceive them. If that's not funny, then I'm not sure what is. Yeah there was a lot of cursing and crude humor but the film was so much more than that.

South Park is fucking hilarious, and so was Team America (the soundtrack alone is reason enough for it to be far from being on that list). Team America is at 78% on RT. There are probably literally thousands of films from this decade that were far far worse.

i can't watch youtube at work, but i know it's that matt damon clip.

i just don't get why people liked it. it's like the creators are putting random stupid crap in on purpose and secretly making fun of the people who eat it up and call it "intelligent humor"

you're crazy.

while that movie and south park do both have fart/sex jokes and quite a bit of cussing, they are both very smart attacks at pop culture, and poke fun at scenes from other movies/shows quite often. maybe it just went over your head if you can't see that.

man-bear-pig wasn't meant to be funny...well it was, but it was an attack on Al Gore about him "creating" a problem like many thought that he did when they say he exaggerated global warming. so like i said, maybe you just don't get it.

believe me, i've seen enough episodes of south park to know what i think. all my friends are OBSESSED with this show and it drive them crazy that i don't like it. they'll say, "Here, watch this one. it's really funny/smart/etc..." and i'll watch it with them and they're practically peeing themselves and i'm wanting to kill myself. it's just bad television.

i disagree. i'm not saying it was the best movie i've ever seen but definitely far from the worse. to put it in perspective, i'd rank both the new wolverine movie and the new transformers worlds above southland in worst movies i've seen. those both sucked sooooo so bad. it was a very mediocre movie for me, a bit too ambitious, but definitely not awful. what do you expect, the guy was trying to follow up donnie darko.

this was such an awesome walk through memory lane......so much money wasted in the world...

notes to peoples post-
1) South Park/Team America, not funny? That's incomprehensible to me.
2) Southland Tales is an AWESOME movie...a very complex, intricle plot with lots of undertones throughout. Everything about that movie made sense to me, and it's great to see writer/directors take interesting chances in making a film. A lot of the films you see on this list are lame, borring, slapped-together films that were clearly made "just because". There werent many movies on this list where you can say..."i bet the writer really tried here".

Key Films on this thats awesome:
Sound of thunder - hahahahahahaha i remember that shit.
Dragonfly - I saw this in theaters when I was 14 and thought it was bad because i was young...oh it was actually that bad?
Deck the halls - IS THE WORST HOLIDAY MOVIE IVE EVER WATCHED (but that makes it fun to watch lol)
Serving Sara - this is a prime example of why southland tales isnt as bad as a movie like this. a throw away comedy like this are the scum of hollywood
Soul Survivor - (spoiler) The movie ends as "IT WAS ALL A DREAM". THATS RIGHT. The ending we all joke about, of how to make the worst endings possible...they did it. congrats.
In Crowd - Worst movie ive ever seen in my entire life.

Justin_stacy

Mostly shitty 'comedy' and sci-fi/action flicks....which I guess is to be expected.

The only one that stuck out for me was the spanish horror flick Darkness, I'm not saying it was great or anything, but the main American release was a chopped up pg-13 version that pretty much destroyed the film. This unfairly lead to alot of awful reviews.
