...i got through half the first song on the new cd and decided the beginning sounded like any local screamo/hardcore band, so I switched back to listening to mastodon

im not really that into it but i think they do what they do very well. spencer does his lows very well and i think the songs are a welcomed change slightly back.

he actually has a pretty decent voice.

and you can't fault them for sounding similar to most scene bands out there because a majority of them emulated underoath.

I agree, he does the low vocals really well. They are a bit harder then the past cd, he shows off his vocal range that I know he has.

I've given up trying to persuade people to recognize the unoriginality of bands that are "hip" and for the most part, I like them. But I don't praise a single one. My avatar explains that all.

And if someone says I praise Alkaline Trio. It's true, I do. But they aren't like a single band out there today, disregarding their image, and image doesn't mean a damn thing when they put out the music they do.

With all that said, I will buy the new underOath and I probably will like it.

I kinda agree, I'd give it probably a B+, it's not the best album, but still a fantastic record. One of the best so far this year.

there are tons of CD's i hated the first time i listened to (volcanoes, north, doppleganger) but some just take time. i think you should give it a better chance.

it's a shame because I went and saw UO twice my freshman year of college and loved the shit out of their show. Now I basically passed up free tickets.
