Did you attend Bamboozle (www.thebamboozle.com) this past weekend in New Jersey? If so, share the experience with all of us! Post your stories, feedback and anything else regarding the festival in the replies. Since I'll be forwarding this thread to Max Cruise (www.maxcruise.com) later in the day, suggestions and constructive criticism are also welcome. Also, be sure to answer this question: What changes can be made, if any, to make next year's Bamboozle even better than this year's?

there was about a bagillion people trying to see panic at the disco. my only complaint would be that the show was wayyy oversold to the point where it was hard to get up close or get a good view of the main stage bands.... and make beer cheaper than 7 bucks a bottle. hot damn.

i won't get into a long essay-type explanation and what not but...

1) it was warped tour - 10 degrees
2) im about 99.9% sure sonny lip synched because during mothersound his motions and mouth movements were far off the vocals
3) bamboozle didnt let FOB use a banner or let pete try and climb up the side yet TBS had a lit up banner and adam climbed up to the top a-la Warped Tour '03
4) saturday was the most people i have ever seen in my entire life
5) sound wasn't good at all it would fade in and out
6) set times were improved over last year which was good but during the first day the main stages were so mobbed i couldn't watch some of the bands

I agree that it was a bit oversold. I must say that I caught Envy On The Coast on one of the smaller stages having never heard them before, and they blew me away. Picked up their EP, great band.

front and center for thursday, motion city soundtrack, hidden in plain view, silverstein, panic, method man, saves the day, underoath, lifetime, and taking back sunday.

fuckin great

i didn't like how the barricade cut into the crowd in the middle. it made me feel far from the stage.

oh yeah, fuck crowdsurfers

I had a good time, but Bamboozle was exactly the same as any Warped Tour show so I don't plan on going to Bamboozle anymore. Tickets, food, beer, gas, hotel rooms, and other shit all add up. Also, the Meadowlands isn't the same as Asbury Park. I hope the Skate and Surf guys reclaim this festival.

i had a good time, but must say asbury park had a better atmosphere to it. at lleast the schedules weren't messed up like last yr.

- it was oversold
- the saints and sinners & riot squad stages ran a little early (causing me to miss half of paramore and nightmare of you)
- seeing TBS is horrendous these days
- Lifetime is probably the best ever
- as said before...if you sold sunscreen, you'd make millions, im burnt to a crisp here
- as much as i say right now "im definitely not going back next year"...i KNOW i'll end up there

The Macbeth/Saints and Sinners and the Riot Squad stages had the best sound out of all of them. i was disappointed by the sound on linc's stage.

the dream maker's stage was set up in a bad spot because all you could hear when a band played was either the band on linc's stage or the band on the macbeth/riot squad stages.

beer was way too expensive.

for the people complaining they couldn't get to the front so it was oversold, cry about it. its a huge event with huge bands. of course there will be tons of people. and as for not being able to see the bands because the stages were too crowded, on sunday i decided to not try and get close like i did on saturday and i found it to be more convenient. yes i couldn't see the band up close and personal but i did not have a terrible view. and i also found it to sound better.

My complaint is that they don't have a festival like this in the Southeast

karly.
05/08/06, 10:26 AM
I was impressed with how organized everything was.

I was also surprised with how easy it was to get out of the place at the end of the night.
I left early to let some of my friends shower in my hotel, because they had to play flipside the next day, and I had to go back about an hour later to pick up my friends after fall out boy at the end of the night, and it took me less than a half hour.

The sound was awful though, mostly on the main stages. So bad to the point where I didn't even want to watch anymore, even though I knew the bands were playing well. The sound guys were just, bad. all bass and vocals. The smaller stages sounds were a lot better.

Everything was set up well and pretty easy to find.

Some set times were running early but I managed to see everyone I wanted to.

Also, I'll agree with a lot of people and say it was oversold.

overall though, I had an amazing time, minus the fact that I'm not thinking about the ridiculous amount of money I had to spend.

I wrote a review for a post in the general forum. The singer from Panic was screaming at the end of The Receiving End of Siren's set.

http://thisthatnottheother.typepad.com/this_that_not_the_other/2006/05/bamboozle_revie.html

There's the review.

Don't complain about concession prices, they were more reasonable than a movie theathers or even some warped venues.

I had no complaints about this festival really

it was to much like warped tour. not having the atmostphere of asbury took away from the whole event i would say. i also felt it was a lot more fun when it was a 3 day event. i didnt buy anything so i cant comment on the prices. it also lacked surprise guests and special performances like bamboozle and skate and surf in the past years.

I got front and center for Thursday.
It was amazing.

I would like someone to post pictures of Anthony Green's Drag getup from Circa Survive's set yesterday.
(For those who didn't catch them, he had a leather dress + bra + pantyhose + full on makeup)

Lifetime was great. Seeing all the people just offstage singing their hearts out was great.

The security guards were amazing. They had senses of humor, were quick to act, and were not total dicks.

Water and food were too much. Last year at Asbury, one of the best things was that any randoms could sell food/drink, for reasonable prices. I was broke as IT WAS, and water/food was just ughh too much.

The first day felt like a warped tour. The second day didn't. I had a great time both days either way.

All the references to Flavor of Love on Saturday were much appreciated by me. (Hellogoodbye's Forrest yelled 'FLAVUR FLAVE' and Pete Wentz went on a rant about crazy bitches like 'New York')

I had an amazing time overall, and can't wait for comprehensive picture posts.

I don't care what anyone says. i had an awesome time at bamboozle

i have a few complaints, though. the main one that sticks out in my mind is that crowd control between the main stage area and the riot squad/saints and sinners stage was terrible on saturday. the consession stands in that area made it way too crowded. it seemed a little better on sunday, though

scarsandstories
05/08/06, 10:40 AM
both days were completely oversold (especially saturday, you could barely move) and sunscreen would have been a great thing to have on sale.

next year they should put an age limit on who can go. 16 and up - there were 11 year olds in the fftl and tbs pits. not to mention flipflops should be banned. i got sick of listening to 14 year old fob fans complain their feet hurt.

also i think whoever's idea it was to put those two stages together should be shot. there were completely TWO different genres playing next to eachother and everyone that was waiting for nightmare of you to play had to plug their ears because the bled fucking sucked. i can't hear out of my left ear at all and i don't think anyone else that was standing near me can either. i think they should have put similar bands on the two stages or not have them right next to each other at all.

i must say that circa survive had one of the more interesting sets i saw...
it did kind of lose something by moving to the meadowlands, but probably for the better. it was pretty well organized. i dont like that your forced to eat wicked expensive and shitty food. and chiodos was great, i wish i hadnt missed them as fluff my boner.

anthony green wearing something that looked like the leather off a car seat (if it was really a dress it was a weird one), full makeup and ripped fishnets. hilarious.

Thanks for posting that picture.

There was no reunion, because the Bamboozle myspace says that the band declined the invitation to reunite.

i'm with everyone else who is raving about envy on the coast. love that band.

i think all of my complaints have been covered...except the ATM issue. there was only one...and then it broke on sunday. i showed up broke as shit on sunday, expecting to stop by the ATM and overdraw my account some more, and ended up having to stretch $10 (and not pass out). i was not happy.

without asbury park, bamboozle is just the poor man's warped tour. there's nothing special about it anymore.

Even though the masses of people seemed a bit overwhelming, and Paramore went on EARLY~!, Bamboozle was FANTASTIC. Seeing AAR sing "It Ends Tonight" against a setting sun was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Give me a $7 beer, good company, and those bands any day of the week- -- hell yeah for Bamboozle 2007. IM THERE.

my only complaint was the sound on the stage that mae, thursday, acceptance, underoath, etc. were on. the vocals and guitars were way too low and the bass was way too high. the other stage where TREOS was had it right, as did the other two smaller stages where the bled and NoY were.

TREOS and hit the lights were probably the best performances i saw that weekend. but i'm sure i would have enjoyed the other ones more had the sound been better.

i really enjoyed it. i had an easy time getting to the front of the stages and saw almost everyone i wanted to. MCS was great as usual, Thursday was flat out amazing. Halifax was surprisingly good. Senses Fail's show really surprised me and was really good. Saves the Day was awesome, and of course, Say Anything easily topped every other band those two days.

Thank you AP for making this thread!

There was lack of garbage cans (it made the area feel really dirty by the ends of the day) if the garbage cans were everywhere people would use them. Recycling bins would be great for next year.

Luckly for me, I was eating by the stage were Paramore was playing and I saw them setting up, and then I realized they were going on early, but my sister missed part of their set.

The food was insanely ovepriced. As a vegeterian its not like i could just go buy a hot dog for $3. I felt that the water was a good price.

Also I unserstand how the "parents area" is supposed to be a quiet place , but I think it should have been more chill about letting kids in to drop off merch. I had to sneak behind the security. I did email bamboozle through myspace and I was told that we would be able to go see our parents.

The porta poties by the end of the day on sunday were disgusting. My friend walked in and out of 6 before we went to another area of bathrooms.

Taking Back Sunday ended 15 minutes early.

Haha and someone posted earlier about selling sunblock I agree with that!

It was a bit overcrowded at times, I mean I expected big crowds, but Saturday was ridiculous.

Everything was really organized and that was GREAT!

Method Man was deffinately one of the highlights!

Bamboozle was alot of fun. Everything was really expensive. The sound on the main stages was terrible, it kept cutting out. The bass cab for HIPV was so loud that everynoise from the pickups was able to be heard. Sunday was much better than saturday. The Rocket Summer was the best band on Saturday. Circa and AFI were the best on sunday

GET SOMONE NEW TO INTRODUCE THE BANDS!! "allllllllright we are back over here" blah
The sound on the main stages kept fading in and out
Pete comming out for Ride the Wings (fftl) was sick and I don't think sonny lipped anything
I had never seen underoath live and it was sick
not too sure wtf was going on with the whole FOB/Panic chain ceremony...but seeing FOB cover one of their songs and then pete saying they werent the same band was pretty funny

Thank god they fixed the crowd traffic issue with those gates between macbeth and the main stages on sunday

Was that really Macho Man Randy Savage??? If so i agree with him, screw bruce springsteen and bring it back to asbury

Thank god they fixed the crowd issue with those gates between macbeth and the main stages on sunday

Overall me and my friends had a great time.. I didnt think the food was overpriced , if you drink beer in that sun and then go into a crowd your a moron but $7 is nuts. The layout and set times were better.. Overall I would def go back, I didnt know that camping in the parking lot overnight was allowed otherwise I would have. Great Weekend

- GET MORE GARBAGE CANS.

the trash all over the place was over bearing. i couldn't take two steps without walking in beans, rice, or soda bottles. that was the absolute worst part of the 2 days.

that's my only real complaint that pissed me off. here's some thoughts.

- the sound on the main stages sucked. besides AFI. and FFTL.

- $10 for the only thing vegetarians can get (wraps) is pushin it. but, i'll admit, they gave you a shit load of food for it, and it was all i needed to survive each day.

- invest in shitters. where the fuck am i supposed to take a crap.

- ATM's PLEASE.

- control the underage drinking. there were more young teen's (primarily 14-18yr old girls.) drinking beers than adults.

Other than that, i had an amazing time at bamboozle. i got to see every single band i wanted to see. and easily too. just push thru ppl and not give a fuck, and you'll get to where you want.

security was cool.

the sound on macbeth/riot squad was really great. Hot Topic stage's sound wasn't bad either.

Merch Maps were a great idea. but you should have a big poster or a bunch of posters all around with set times. it would've been a little easier, than trying to figure out where to get the hand outs (in a unattended lone cardboard box just sitting by the gates).

keep it at meadowlands. that was perfect.

great band selections. except for pryde.

so one more complaint then:

- STOP SUPPORTING PRYDE

- and put Lorene Drive on a better stage at a better time.

Bamboozle this year was great, i thought that the Meadowlands was an ideal spot for it, and word from my sources they most likely will be back there next year! i would just like to say to some of the complaints:

sunblock- use some damn common sense for those people that are burning up after this weekend, your going to be in the sun for two days straight, bring your own. for those that are complaing about the price and then saying they should sell sunblock kinda cancels eachother out.

sound- the only thing i have to say about it is that the only reason that the sound kept cutting out was because of the openess of the air with the constant wind blowing made the sound drift in different directions (use your brains people, wind does make noise travel..dumbasses)

over-crowdness- this years Bamboozle was set up perfectly so that each person on both days would have 8 square qubic feet for one person. thus letting them sell more tickets in the Bamboozle history (saturday selling 27,500)

so yet again i will say this years bamboozle was amazing and i can not wait for next year.

TakingBackNolan

I only said they should have sold sunblock because that would have been a great financial move. If people would spend 3 bucks on water, I couldnt even imagine how much they would spend on suntan lotion.

The layout of the concert could have been much better. the location of the entrance in relation to the side stages was weird, making it hard to get past crowds of people walking in the show while trying to get back to the stages. Also the band merch kind of got lost in the one corner.

Method Man was awesome, they should have added some more diversity to the lineup.

The sound was bad at times, but it was to be expected at an outdoor fest.

Other than that it ran really smoothly and the security was really great.

also parents shouldn't let their 12 year old daughters wear shirts that say "this shirt would look better on your floor"

The festival was one of the best times I've ever had. But I had one complaint...

The Hurley/Hot Topic Stage was like "outcasted" compared to all the rest of the stages...I seriously don't think that many people even knew where the Hurley/Hot Topic stage was, despite the fact that it was on the map and near the entrance. All the rest of the stages flowed along perfectly (the linc stage and the photo finish stage were together in some way and I loved the fact that the riot squad and macbeth/saints and sinners stage had one band play right after the other band so the people didn't have to wait...really well done). But the Hurley/Hot Topic stage was like outcasted. I felt bad for some of the bands that I listened to over that stage and there was barely any crowd whatsoever. Some of the bands tried to get some crowd reaction and had to put 110% effort to get just one peep out from the crowd (I'm not goin to name any bands from what I saw that happened, but I just felt so bad, especially for gifted bands with high potential in the future to become huge). Overall, the festival was great, had a blast. But if there was a way that the stages could still be around the same "area" and not have one be outcasted compared to the rest, I think the bands, let along myself being a huge fan on some of the bands on that stage...it would be a great favor. Part of having a band coming to these festivals, in my opinion, is to have a chance for them to be known. But by being in a place where one could have a chance to walk around in the area and listen to a band which may strike one's interest to listen to and stay around for awhile...it would probably generate a larger crowd for the band and not make the band seem like they're just playing to 2 people in the crowd. When I was in the bamboozle festival, i really didn't want to go near the hurley/hot topic stage to listen to the bands that I didn't know 'cuz I was like heading toward the exit and I just wanted to stay in the festival and be apart of everything. Other than that complaint, I thought the festival was amazing. Had the best time of my life and am looking forward to the next bamboozle, whenever that maybe....

Couple of things that i liked/disliked

1. Why HIM...you could of had such a better band play on Sunday
2. The sound quality sucked, its was either a mic worked or didnt work, or the drums were ridicously loud
3. Better Merch and better variety....i mean i got there on sunday at like 2ish and the tbs stand had nothing
4. The people amount was awsome....i enjoyed the shitload of people there
5. Better food, cheaper prices for beer
6. keep it at giants stadium, love the location, and keep it in may cause the weather was awsome

The festival ran way smoother than last year, set times were laid out pretty good... I got to see everyone I wanted to see.

One main complaint:
Sell beverages in CUPS please... The amount of bottles that were being thrown into the crowd while waiting for bands to come on was ridiculous (especially when its hot as hell and then a 10 foot radius of people gets doused with Pepsi.. not a cool combo at all).

I went sunday to this

1) thank you for signing paint it black and lifetime

2) I think you guys should wait 5 minutes before another main stage band comes on because people rush back and forth to see the main stage bands

3) more variety including more ska and punk rock bands

4) Well organized, sucks you guys can't do anything about food and drink because I know its run by Aramark.

complaints:
.panic! fans suck. fainted ones were being carried out and people werent getting out of the way to let them out.
.the merch booths were all separated ((unlike at asbury park where they were all in a circle))

halifax sucks.
mae is boring.
fall out boy covering panic! was awesome.

The path ways to get from either parts of the sections got really slow when people would stand in the middle of them and sell water it did get annoying.

all in all i had a good time, it was fun.
i also heard Envy On The Coast was pretty kickass.. and yeah, sound going in and out? not good. music is the main forcus of a music festival, so it should be at least the one sure thing.

and Lifetime freaking RULED. some stupid chick was like "well they don't sound like anything special" and i was like "that's the point. so if you don't like them then get out of the crowd, bitch." except without the 'bitch.'
fun show despite the stupid and/or drunk people.
Sunday's schedule kind of pissed me off though, i would think the logic would be to put different-sounding bands on at the same time, not have all the hardcore bands playing at the same time, all the dancy ones at another time.. makes for unsatisfying decisions and bums kids out :(

similar scheduling thing from last year - changing set times and not letting anyone know? wtf? there was a freaking PA system and they couldnt even announce that one stage was an ENTIRE HOUR ahead of schedule, thus making tons of people miss bands they seriously wanted to see.

i didn't think it was over-sold at all, whatever. and not to play hard-ball or anything, but $3 drinks and stuff are to be expected. i dunno about $3 brownies though. and i didnt buy any food so i dunno about the prices there.
we were kind of suprised that they had stands for like, Bud Light right next to freaking Mrs. Field's cookies, drunk people being innapropriate and distracting from the bands themselves is pretty damn annoying.

i didn't like how the barricade cut into the crowd in the middle. it made me feel far from the stage.

oh yeah, fuck crowdsurfers

that was HELLA annoying, the barricade- why on earth would you shape it like that? just do a normal straight barricade so people don't have to be even more distant... plus then you could fit more people in to see the bands.

and one days the No Crowdsurfers rule should ACTUALLY BE ENFORCED. come ON.
i personally dislike 180 pound dudes smacking into my head and making me not able to walk straight for an hour... i dunno about anyone else.

"I had a good time, but Bamboozle was exactly the same as any Warped Tour show so I don't plan on going to Bamboozle anymore. Tickets, food, beer, gas, hotel rooms, and other shit all add up. Also, the Meadowlands isn't the same as Asbury Park. I hope the Skate and Surf guys reclaim this festival."

yup. reminded me wayyy too much of just another Warped Tour. boring. i'll just go see the bands on their own tours then.

"the saints and sinners & riot squad stages ran a little early (causing me to miss half of paramore and nightmare of you)
- as said before...if you sold sunscreen, you'd make millions, im burnt to a crisp here"

yeah, i had been hanging around there so i knew, but otherwise it was like 'sucks for you.' same with if youre a vegetarian, 'sucks for you.'

on the macbeth/S&S stage, whenever they ended a song you could CLEARLY hear everything on the main stage... eh.

"I was impressed with how organized everything was.

I was also surprised with how easy it was to get out of the place at the end of the night.

The sound was awful though, mostly on the main stages. So bad to the point where I didn't even want to watch anymore, even though I knew the bands were playing well. The sound guys were just, bad. all bass and vocals. The smaller stages sounds were a lot better.

Everything was set up well and pretty easy to find."

yup, that part was pretty nice. the organization was sweet and you could pretty easily run from one stage to another.
but meadowlands? it's okay... eh.

"GET MORE GARBAGE CANS.
- $10 for the only thing vegetarians can get (wraps) is pushin it. but, i'll admit, they gave you a shit load of food for it, and it was all i needed to survive each day.
security was cool.
the sound on macbeth/riot squad was really great. Hot Topic stage's sound wasn't bad either.
Merch Maps were a great idea. but you should have a big poster or a bunch of posters all around with set times. it would've been a little easier, than trying to figure out where to get the hand outs (in a unattended lone cardboard box just sitting by the gates).

so one more complaint then:
- STOP SUPPORTING PRYDE
- and put Lorene Drive on a better stage at a better time."

this kid is completely right. how rude is it, to have a small band playing the SAME TIME AS FALL OUT BOY. that's just mean.

Ari from lifetime: "Id like to thank saves the day and taking back sunday cause without them we wouldnt be here".

This was my first trip up to Bamboozle and we had a booth so my experience was pretty different than most other peoples. I was surprised at how organized the festival was, we didnt have trouble getting in, getting our wrist bands or getting our stuff set up and all that. I also really liked that the vendors all had assigned spots. Being able to sit at our tent and hear Say Anything made my day 300 times more amazing. Its too bad that the MP3 stage was running early because we missed Anchors for Arms who we had wanted to see. I also wish that we had had more free stuff to give away to everyone. :) Overall is was a fantastic weekend and I really really appreciate everyone who stopped by our table!

I wrote a review for a post in the general forum. The singer from Panic was screaming at the end of The Receiving End of Siren's set.

There's the review.

Don't complain about concession prices, they were more reasonable than a movie theathers or even some warped venues.

yea crowdsurfing is annoying.

I think i put in my review a comment on fat chicks not crowdsurfing. If I had a dollar for everytime an overweight chick would try to surf and hit a section of 14 year old FOB teenyboppers and hit the asphault i'd have a friggin bunch of dollars.

Vegetarians don't complain. You voluntarily gave up meat and the right to a shitty 3 dollar dogs and 5 buck sausages. I respect your decision but the majority has the vote and the right to pay the aforementioned prices.

Still there could be more selection.

Much better than at Asbury. Thank you, Max Cruise. The Meadowlands is an almost ideal venue.

I only went Sunday and thought most of the bands were terrible, but the ones I did enjoy (Men Women and Children, Panic!, Saves the Day, Lifetime, AFI, Riverboat Gamblers) were truly really, really good. If I didn't get a cheap ticket on eBay I probably wouldn't have gone this year but if the lineup is strong next year, I'd certainly attend.

Super Octopus

Max Cruise has nothing to do with the Merch.

If the band doesn't bring enough/run out, it's all on them.

(I saw at least 2 people complain about the lack of merch)

bamboozle this year was just like a two day warped tour. whats the point? there was nothing special that seperated this from warped tour. there were no special guests or surprise anythings or any extra little perks that last year's bamboozle had or even skate and surf had. and the barricade on the photo finish stage was annoying. there were no scheudling problems but it also didnt rain this year and there were also a lot less bands compared to last year and skate and surf and yet ticket prices were still the same even though it was a whole day and then some less bands. bring it back to asbury and make it 3 days and better like how it was last year. bamboozle this year compared to last year was no where as good.

Oh by the way lifetime's set was flawless sans all the retarded taking back sunday fans there.

haha that was awesome. and lifetime were incredible, although its kind of disappointing seeing them for the first time in the least punk rock venue ever.

Ok, so Im in college therefore i am extremely poor. After shelling out gas money, hotel money, ticket money, and merch money I had little money to spend on food. I think they should have handed out woptional wristbands like previous years so that you could go in and out. Maybe go to Wendys and get a full mel for 3 people for the price of one poorly made burrito.

Also
I think it was ridiculous that we had to shell out 20 more dollars to park. Like we didnt pay enough money already.

Other than the large crowds of teeny/sceney boppers It was great.

it sounds like there were waaaaaay too many people. i don't know, i've slowly grown to really dislike big crowds/big venues/etc. i'm not a big fan of the heat either. i guess you can understand now, why i stopped goingto warped tour. it sounds like bamboozle was another jr version of it. i'm glad i didn't go, it doesn't seem like anything really huge happened that would make me regret not going. i like the comments about how it should be brought back to asbury. even though i didn't go this year, i'm pretty sure that if i did, i would want it back at asbury too. there's just a certain feeling about it.

I had a pretty good time. The feel is so different now that it's not in Asbury...whoever said it was WarpedTour Jr, I totally agree.

Criticism - I feel like it got much more chaotic this year - so many more injuries and shit going down. While last year the capacity limits pissed people off and kept people from seeing bands, it was probably much safer and more enjoyable for the people who got in to see.

Merch booths were way too confusing.

Probably the greatest post in this thread. The homeade shirt trend pissed me off more than anything I have ever seen before. Whoever it was earlier in the thread that said people who have been going to skate & surf / Bamboozle for a couple of years now can see the way the scene is heading. It's so true, the kids are getting younger and younger.. I'm 20 and I feel out of place at a show because theres too many 14 year old girls dressed like skanks running around. I guess in one way it's good to see that people are finally seeing the light and realizing how good punk music really is, but at the same time it's depressing to feel out of place when your in the crowd to see a band you like.

most of what i'm going to say has been said already:
It felt like a overbuggeted warped tour, it lost all magic that Asbury Park gave this event. As much as people complained about how unorganized the event was last year, I had a lot more fun. You could leave whenever you wanted, it was indoors and outdoors, and you could sit down and watch bands in Convention Hall if you didn't feel like standing (I know, I'm getting old). If it would have rained this weekend people would have been miserable. Moving it to the Meadowlands was a huge cop-out on planning around all the problems from last year. Everyone that has been to Skate and Surf and Bamboozle in Asbury and has stayed there for the festival knows that half the fun was in staying at the Berkley and hanging out with everyone all weekend. They didn't make each day diverse enough. I went both days because I had tickets but almost all the bands I wanted to see were on Saturday. Saturday was filled with bands that were poppier and Sundays bands were more hardcore, "screamo". Other than seeing a bunch of people I haven't seen in a long time, I spent Sunday waiting around for AFI and Lifetime. The food and drinks were overpriced yeah, but that was out of their hands. Its the Meadowlands and Aramark that made the prices high. With Warped Tour starting in a little over a month, was there a real need for this festival?

the kids who were there for him were pretty bad. while walking around, it seemed kinda funny to see a guy with aiden-esque make-up walking around in an outfit looking like it was modeled after a jester.
i didnt go saturday, but i heard it was MUCH worse than sunday, with all the fat chick crowd surfing and whatnot.
i still had a great time on sunday, and hopefully next year they wont put the two small stages in such a secluded area.
oh, by the way, did anyone else think that the main stages were HUGE? i mean, comared to other outdoor venue shows ive been to, the main stages were about the size of the saints and sinners/macbeth stages. with all the lights and hieght of the main stages, i thought it was like a rolling stones concert or something.

My quick hit thoughts:
I had an amazing time until around 5ish PM on Sunday, and it only stopped then because I developed a migraine.
The Meadowlands was an excellent venue. For those who say it was oversold, it was only really crowded by the main stages towards the end of the days. There was plenty of space, the layout was excellent and it was very easy to get there, park and get out.
Food prices were reasonable. Aramark is the same company that does the Giants/Jets games and the prices were about the same as Giants games. I know 6.75 beers suck... so I just decided to not buy any.
My two main complaints are one major one: The sound for the Photo Finish stage was terrible on Sunday. I couldn't hear anyone on that stage at all. It really dampened what would have been an amazing Say Anything performance.
Second small complaint: I really didn't like that the merch tents were spread out all over the place. It took a whole hell of a lot of walking to see all the merch.
Whoever suggested they sell sunblock is a genius. I did wear it both days but I saw plenty of people on Sunday who were burnt to a crisp.
Oh, and I would suggest to security that they start ejecting kids who throw bottles. That pisses me off more than anything. It is so stupid. And throwing bottles was one thing but I saw kids throwing CDs, some of which were already cracked. If someone got hit in the head with one of those cracked CDs it would have causes some serious damage.

oh, and did you see those two chicks who pushed eachother (they were NOT moshing) and almost fought?
On that note, two guys almost fought each other before (or during, I can't remember) fall out boy's set...lame

This was me and my friends first at Bamboozle, so I don't have previous years to compare it to, but overall we had a great time
And I agree with not putting bands on the smaller stages during the headlining acts

Although Asbury Park is where it has always been this time at the meadowlands did rock no waiting in line to go in and out. I might have liked it to go in and out kinda like an amusement park where they stamp your hand and you can come back in because i would have liked to get a hoodie as it got colder.

There was an insane amount of bands that I liked and of course there could have always been more but there was not that many conflicts the only bands i didnt get to see that i would have liked to was Valencia, Drive By, Silverstein, Amber Pacific, and Sound the Alarm so that not too bad on how many i did miss

Bands that i would like to see get big and be on bigger stages next year Paramore, The Killing Moon, Hit the Lights, Madina Lake, Valencia, Amber Pacific, Just Surrender, I am the Avalanche, Crash Romeo, and Cute is What We Aim For

The guys from The Killing Moon were really nice guys I hope they get really big because the would deserve it

Byehersmile Okay so yeah they were the badn between From Autumn and Ashes and Crash Romeo and i was so pissed I had to watch them .... yeah well i am glad i did they were the biggest suprise band of the weekend I can see them getting big and they now have a fan in me :)

Dissapointments
The sound could have been better I know its an outdoor festival but i have never had problems with sound at a warped tour so I am not sure During tbs i kept wanting to sing but i could hear myself which freaked me out because i cant sing haha

What happened to all suprises like you know how Chiodos was Fluff My Boner why wasnt there more of that or how about when TBS played acoustic for Morning Call in Asbury park liek have a big band play acoustic on the closest stage to the entrence to start out the day with a bang

other than these not to many problems
The prices of food was to be expected no biggie
It was cool how the tents were at differnt places so i could go and look at them 4 times during the day and remember easily where i had already been
Although i did get a bamboozle hoodie i would have liked a zip up so maybe more merch as in what if you only went on sunday then you couldnt get merch

The amount of people was amazing going from the smaller stages to main was a bitch early on of sat but there fixed it so no sweat

Hidden In Plain View, The Spill Canvas, Sense Fail, Taking Back Sunday, Moneen, Aiden, Thursday, and Saves the Day were the best big name bands that shoudl come back next year.

Okay Method Man wasnt that good for me i know alot of people said they liked it but I did not i would rather have a band that isnt really in the bamboozle realm but still rock like cake third eye blind or soemthing like that

Fallout Boy was cool I had not seen them since the FUCT except at warped tour so it was nice to see them place longer then 30 min so thanks for having them

And as always i will be at Bamboozle 07 if there is one :) thanks guys

I traveled to NJ for bamboozle all the way from maryland. I didnt think the sound was too good at all. But i only went on sunday, thats all i could afford. I had some fun. I was surprised at all the crowd surfers, especially when the fall of troy went on. I was right in the front row, and the security guards could barely catch all the kids. Vocals seemed to keep fading in an out. And some of the bands at the riot squad stage seemed to ramble on about stuff people really didnt care about. I was there to hear music, not listen to some bands opinion on government and whats happening in different countries. A lot of the people were throwing things. I witnessed a kid get hit right in the side of the head by a CD, and another girl get hit in the eye with one of the plastic beer bottles.

I'm glad i got to see all those great bands all in one day. But, i dont think i will be going back. Oh, did anyone else know that Fluff My Boner was actually Chiodos? Did anyone know that before bamboozle?

One other comment about the sound. I was standing next to Omar from Hit the Lights when Say Anything came on and I asked him about why the sound was so shitty. He said "It's probably a problem with the PA." I had no idea what that meant but I didn't want to sound like an idiot so I just nodded.

It was fun seeing Lifetime again even though it was kind of weird seeing them on such a big stage with all those people, even though a lot of them were waiting for TBS to come on. Ari is funny.

Paint It Black ruled.

Strike Anywhere were awesome but again, was kind of weird seeing them on a huge stage (they played on one of the mainstages) especially because I just saw them play at a bowling alley a few months ago for 100 kids. New song sounded really good too.

Riverboat Gamblers are probably the best live band i've ever seen. Singer broke 2 fingers during the 1st song jumping off the stage and was still all over the place.

I went to the Saturday show and i have to saw it was pretty amazing. There was an insane amount of people, i wish there was less but what ya gonna do? My day went like this:

First we tailgated til about 12:45, then we started to walk in. We got a good feel for the set-up of everything and made our way to photo finish stage for bayside. They were pretty decent but my friends didnt really know em too good so we just kinda looked on instead of going in. We then walked over to Linc's for Halifax and i was VERY impressed with them. My one friend, who doesn't even like this kind of music and just came for drinking and moshing, said they were great. We got really close to the stage for them but the people werent goin nuts this early in the day. Back to photo for HIPV who were pretty good but not as known to most people but i dont care i loved them. People popped when they announced they were from Jersey. Bounced over to the Riot Squad stage for Over It who were friggin GREAT. They had a small crowd because they arent well known but i know my shit and all my friends enjoyed them greatly. Our other friend called us and we had to meet him at the gate which was good because i wanted to go see Valencia anyway. They didnt sound nearly as good live as they do on CD but maybe it was the stage who knows. Then i mentioned that AFS was the only good band playin at the time but we all decided it was bathroom/beer/food time. I saw my brother who went with his group of friends and we watched Mae from a distance who sounded pretty decent. Flocked over to Lincs early so we can get in good place for Silverstein. They were very impressive like i expected, but the majority of my group wanted to leave early to see Relient K, who i like but i knew it would be all teenyboppers. I gave in like usual but i REALLY wanted to see Hit the Lights but i didnt want to get lost, thinking about it now i should of just said fuck it and went. But we headed over to Photo finish. They were pretty good but like i said too many little 12 year old girls with their mommies and daddies were there. It was funny watching the bottles thrown and seeing them gettin hit and started complaining tho. Me and two of my friends left it early so we can get in a good spot for FFTL. By FARRRR the sickest performance of the day!!! They were friggin insane like expected and once you got into the pit it was amazing. We were very close to the front and i ended up losing both of my friends in the process of the concert. People were getting destroyed and physically hurt here and once Sonny told everyone to throw any trash they saw is when you heard various "gasps" throughout the crowd and i just busted out laughing. This was also the concert where one of my friends lost both his sandals and had to walk around the rest of the day barefoot. It was pretty hillarious but i felt bad. After this i was lost and couldnt get in contact with my friends so trying to call them i was overhearing Streetlight who sounded pretty good but prob cuz i have a special place in my heart for Catch22 as i loved them back in the day. But yea so i couldnt get a chance to see them but one of my friends randomly found me and we all eventually met up again. By this time it was back to Lincs for Hawthorne. They were pretty awesome but there were a surplus amount of little kids here. We still moshed and did our thing tho. Crowdsurfers became a huge problem here as you constantly had to look back to see if they were coming and couldnt really enjoy the concert but what ya gonna do? Me and my one friend got seperated from the crew again but decided to take alittle break again and go and watch Motion City from a distance. We bought sausage sandwiches beforehand but right after we did my friend dropped his! :-DKeeping in mind this is the same kid walking around barefoot! Aw. MCS sounded great like almost exaclty like the cds and from what my brother told me the crowd was great too as he crowdsurfed it. We regrouped once again and watched AAR, who in my opinion dont sound that great live. Im thinking in my head i shoulda went and saw Just Surrender. At this point in the night it was getting really cold as well. Thursday was starting up as we took another bathroom break. We were really freezing and my friends were contemplating leaving. Me and my one friend said fuck it and we went into the mosh for Thursday. Theyre not really one of my favs, as i wanted to see Amber Pacific but it was too far away as we were really lazy and tired and injured at this point. We got warmed up being in the crowd. The majority of our group left before FOB even went on but me and my one friend of course stayed. FOB was really surprisingly good live. The crowd was also surprisingly awesome! Even the pit was pretty decent even though we had to reform it like 92342849 times. One fuckin crowdsurfer after another tho. They brought out the singer from Panic! which was funny as hell cause most people think they sound very similar me being one. I randomly saw my next door neighbor whos like 4 years younger than me in the crowd for FOB it was funny as hell. My friend who i was with had to piss and left in the middle of FOB. So i was by myself but still managed to have fun and mingled with just random people. Figures his cell was dead so i just walked to the car and luckily he was there.

All in all in was an amazing day, despite like 5 concussions being kicked in the head from crowdsurfers. I also saved tons of girls from getting "killed" from crowdsurfers. But i guess it coulda been worse as i coulda lost my shoes or gotten kicked in the eye by a crowdsurfer like what happned to my friends. yes this is an amazingly long post but it was from an amazingly long and fun ass day.

Next stop: Angels and Airwaves in NYC.

Peace boys and girls.

Overall score a 9 to 9.5 the line ups where great and the sound excellent till the wind picked up but what can you do about that. FOB should stick to videos and the studio--they have actually gotten worse in the live game. Watching Lifetime was sooo good and to hear pure punk form the underground days--goosebump stuff. Thursday, Chiodos and so many others were right on thier game and Taking Back Sunday nailed a set that was off the chart. The only negative was food prices.

I'm so glad this wasn't anywhere near Asbury Park--the place is great for some smaller concerts but horrible for anything big like this , the traffic in and out and the sound is horible except on the main stage--plus the fire chief can go to hell and try to put out those eternal fires

Bamboozle was pretty sweet....I don't know if I'd want to go again next year

The only "special" things that I saw that nobody said yet was when Patrick from FOB sang a little part in "Everything Is Alright" with MCS and then Vinnie from I Am The Avalanche came out during "Lightning Strikes Twice In New York" with Men, Women, and Children....and then of course the FOB/Panic! thing was pretty amazing

haha when method man came up to the barricade, he was holding my hand for balance.

and wtf@the bitch who was BITING my fuckin back during panic's set.
then when the singer threw a bottle into the crowd, it hit one of the security in the head and he looked pissed.

i also thought it was pretty cool when adam came out to play divine intervention acoustic and the harmonica around his neck.

my highlight of the weekend had to be when these two 12 year old kids started this little pit and were aiming at kids. this one kid seriously just started punching and kicking another kid's head. then he ran into the biggest kid around the pit and the big kid just knocked him down. then the little kid started aiming again. this time, he aimed for the wrong kid. he aimed at the kid who actually knew what he was doing in the pit and was just completely PWNED by him. straight up speared to the ground then punched in the face. the little kid tried to come back at him but got clotheslined.

oh and this big "punk" hispanic kid started crying during panic's set cuz of all the crowdsurfers hahahahaha

And the singer from Panic came out to scream the last chorus of "Broadcast Quality" for TREOS.

If anyone is complainig about things being thrown around (bottles, CDs, etc.) you haven't seen shit until you've been to Randalls Island Warped Tour. That is by far the best place to see Warped Tour and everyone there is crazy.

did anyone see anchors for arms? were they good?

i fucking love anchors for arms. their band and our band are tight as hell. lol.

anyways, being in a band that actually played at the bamboozle, i was pretty pleased with everything. the stage we played was the dream makers stage, which i thought sounded pretty good but i didnt like how you had to sort of look for it.

otherwise, i didnt really watch the other bands. I watched the bled, anchors for arms, and afi.

during the bled i actually watched a security guard crowd surf over to the pit, take his security guard shirt off, and start moshing with the kids.

afi was amazing, i loved when havoc jumped into the crowd. good stuff.

food was really expensive, but that was expected.

my friends waited in line for a half hour just to get the BOX to put their chicken in, and then they had to wait in another line for the chicken. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ABOUT!? pretty dumb and inconvenient.

I liked the festival though. gave me an opportunity to meet new people and have fun, and thats what i did.

i thought it was an overall good show. there could have been improvements in the sound. circa survives guitars were pretty low and anthony green's mic was low too so you couldn't really here them that well. other than that, the saints and sinners/ riot squad stages were pretty much perfect.

the main stages had bigger problems. underoath's guitars kept fading lower and higher, and the same thing happened for a few other bands (treos, panic!). also at the beginning of the day, the bands started early on the main stage and alexisonfire only got to play from 12:20-12:40 when they were scheduled from 12:30-1:00. so they definitely had a few more songs left and they put on one of the best sets of the day.

the price of drinks and food is ridiculous too. two bottles of water at bamboozle cost $6.00. i could go to my local grocery store and pick up a 24 pack of bottled water for $6.00.

other than that, they did an excellent job of getting an amazing line-up.

I was reading everyone posts and everyone posted alot of the good stuff from bamboozle but completely missed the best part. On sunday when Chiodos played as Fluff My Boner, Thomas Erak of The Fall Of Troy came out w/ a mic and jumped into the crowd and was pretty much on me while he was screaming chiodos lyrics. It was amazing seeing a member of my favorite band join my other favorite band on stage. Also when The fall of troy closed w/ Rockstar Nailbomb and Thomas took his guitar off and came into the crowd, that was rad.

yesss! that was by far the best part. It's something i will always remember. The Fall of Troy was amazing. Such an awesome set, and all those kids crowd surfing, watching the guards rushing around trying to catch kids. The best memory i will ever have.

My friend called me over to another stage before Fluff My Boner[Chiodos] went on. I really didnt know it would be chiodos, or i would not have left. I was pretty much right in the front when there was no one there at all. But when i came back, there werre so many people there and i was near the back. But then when i saw Thomas come out and jump into the stage, i started to jump up and down and scream the lyrics as loud as i could. I wish i could experience that all over again. I plan to see Chiodos and The Fall of Troy again really soon.

**warning: long review** hahahB-)

Let me start off by saying I have been going to skate and surf since 2001 when it was $13.50 and a one day deal to see bands such as Cooter,Glassjaw,Midtown,NFG, among others...i love the asbury scene...you dont have to pay 20 bucks for food/water thruout the day because you can just go back to your car and get a sub or something to drink. BUT i must say the setup for the stages was REALLY good this year, i got to see everyone i wanted to see Sunday because i had to work it on Saturday so i only heard the mainstage bands...i was the short security dude with the blue shirt (later i had a green Mae track jacket on) outside the gates back by the trucks/busses by the stage that Thursday and Streetlight and MCS played on in case anyone saw me =)But anywho...i went home feeling like crap because of the cold and dust and couldnt breathe...

as soon as i woke up Sunday i felt refreshed so i drove to the Boozle, didnt have to pay for parking because there were no attendants haha, got to see everyband i wanted to (except MC Lars)... i was wearing a TRISTATEPUNK (http://www.absolutepunk.net/www.myspace.com/tristatepunk)shirt in case anyone spotted me...

i started with Method Man (who was amazing and made me wanna smoke but i didnt have any blah)...then i ran into my girls Neesh and Dani and watched Van Stone who always crack me up but i wish they would do a real tour lol...next was Say Anything...i have seen them play better and they didnt play Molly =( oh well i still love them...next came Panic! who was amazing like always-huge g-damn crowd, Underoath/The Bled were next followed by a couple Nightmare of You songs
and then went over to see Saves the Day who played too many new songs but were awesome like usual, next came one of the bands i was looking forward to seeing but not looking forward to dealing with the goth/fat kid/teeny bopper crowd they have as a following...it was HIM...soo good!! but i was disappointed they didnt play "your sweet 666" =(...then i watched a couple From Autumn to Ashes songs and then checked out Lifetime...next was a band i never really listened to but from what i know i love, AFI...for not touring in a few years Davey can still rock the F' out! climbing into the crowd and running around belting out all those faves...im definitely going to the Philly AFI/Nightmare of You show!...last but not least (well not the best either lol) was Taking Back Sunday who belted out many new songs which i wasnt familiar with yet and a few classics which i screamed at the top of my lungs...because its what i remember as fun TBS crowds, now their crowds are flip-flop wearing, skirt flapping, prissy little high school, club going kids and then frat guys who only push and push...its annoying but yea it was a fun set,...had some climbing competition (one kid on the pole and then Adam on the scaffolds)...

After the show, me and my friend Vinnie hungout afterwards with the other guys from my security company and met Adam and Eddie from TBS like always...we were supposed to meet AFI but they busy with a meet and greet or sumtin, no biggie...we went to the Tick-Tock Diner on Rt 3...amazing food, then as we were eating...Crash Romeo is leaving...i caught some of their set...pretty damn good! and nice guys too...check out their instore @ Vintage Vinyl and their show on the 19th i think @ hamilton street cafe in bound brook...as we were finishing our food The Receiving End of Sirens walk in lol...my friend Neesh loves that band so i tell her i was talkin to Nate and she starts flipping out, i found it pretty funny...we waited to leave another 20 minutes in hope that a band like 30 Seconds to Mars or HIM or Say Anything would walk in lol then we left

definitely a fun weekend minus the sickness i endured on Saturday night from wearing shorts...but i got paid to see a few bands, no complaints...i would still prefer it at asbury park tho...they should pave that area where they knocked that structure down (anyone who has been down to asbury within the last week or two knows what im talkin about) and put stages there too

Thank you AP for making this thread!

There was lack of garbage cans (it made the area feel really dirty by the ends of the day) if the garbage cans were everywhere people would use them. Recycling bins would be great for next year.

The porta poties by the end of the day on sunday were disgusting. My friend walked in and out of 6 before we went to another area of bathrooms.

!

The bathroom situation was pretty bleak. They should allow the arena bathrooms to remain open the way that they do at warped. Yu couldn't wash your hands after using the porta potty which is extremely unsanitary ugh.

GET SOMONE NEW TO INTRODUCE THE BANDS!! "allllllllright we are back over here" blah

Was that really Macho Man Randy Savage??? If so i agree with him, screw bruce springsteen and bring it back to asbury

LMAO! I was wondering who the heck that was. I didn''t hear the introduction if there was one.
