I would call that a good run considering the life spans of some of these are measured in days.

Oh well. At least I have time to buy a new one before Forza 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

I thought mine had a pretty good run, all things considered. I've had an elite for awhile now, I miss my white supremacist color though.

my second 360 got the red ring back in june. i've been towel tricking it since then but i think its just about to finally die :(

Eh, I was planning on buying one of the now 300 dollar elites, or if I come into a certain amount of money soon, the Modern Warfare 2 xbox.

Damn man 3 years is close to a world record, I bought mine around launch as well and am currently on my 5th Xbox thank god for the Best Buy Warranty!

I love my 360 so much, and I got really upset when it red-ringed (I've since gotten a June 2009 Arcade Unit, I already had the 120gb HDD so, and it works amazingly). The 360 reminds me of spousal abuse. It hurts you so bad, but you love it so much you have to keep coming back.

My 360 had a moment where it was close to death a few months back but it somehow managed to bounce back, i am deeply sorry for your loss.

It is gone. The towel trick worked for like 2 hours. I then did some homework, turned it back on and admitted defeat.

It's sad how common the RROD is, and how people just accept it and get a new one again and again. Hopefully they have it fixed now though.

Three years is a long time for an Xbox. Mine just broke for the second time in three months. Better send it in soon. I hope mine is back before Left4Dead2.

Wasn't the warranty for RROD extended to 5 years, so you can still send it in to get fixed?

I worked at a video store with a large gaming section when the 360's came out. So many people came in to talking about this in the early days, especially since there was no warning. You just woke up one day and saw the red rings and it was like a horror movie. No matter how loud you shouted "nooooo" no one could help you.

mine was replaced in two weeks when I got the red ring.

I'm thinking of getting a second one (two different area codes) and system link them with two tvs..

not sure if any of u guys are in southern california (orange county specifically), but when i got the red ring i had the initial panic. i went on craigslist and checked to see if anything could be fixed.

i ended up finding this guy http://fix360guy.com/ and was talking to him through email about what went wrong. turns out its something with microsoft using a faulty chip or something that becomes loose or damaged when the xbox gets hot (he also recommends laying the xbox horizontally so it can vent)

i went to the guy n he took it apart, replaced the chip, added a little fan or something in my xbox, all in less than 20 minutes..all for $40, and he also offers a 30 day fix it again for free policy.

now when i play my xbox it NEVER gets hot, and even on nights wher ei stupdly left my xbox on while i fell asleep, it does NOT get hot.

i have been recommending this guy to all of my friends who have gotten the red rings. i think u can also ship the xbox's to him if urs is modded and u dont want to go through the process of unmodding it and sending it to microsoft.

realaly chill guy and im reaal glad i went to him. for $40 i saved the hassle of sending my xbox into microsoft and waiting 6 or so weeks to get it back.

How much is that and how long is it good for?

When I bought mine it was like 50 bucks for two years, but now I believe its 80 bucks for two years. Best Buy doesn't even care what the problem is. I once returned my Xbox just because I wanted a new controller and since they sometimes come in bundles with games I also got two free games for returning my xbox.
