fair enough. I'm just curious if anyone else feels the same way i do..it's rare i enjoy a cover more than the original.

Free Fallin' by John Mayer blows Tom Petty out of the water to me. I know where you're coming from.

I love the Iron & Wine version. Postal Service version is... eh.
Also, Hurt performed by Johnny Cash is much better the Nine Inch Nails version. I'm sure there is an entire thread in the music forum dedicated to covers that are better than the originals.

Wasn't digging Iron & Wine's version as much as others did, to be honest.

Each version gives the song a completely opposite mood than the other. Which is why I love both.

BOTH! Love that song, but the two are sonically opposite. One is analog (Iron and Wine), the other is digital (TPS), but you have to give the nod to the one who wrote the song, though.

The Postal Service. With good headphones that song sounds awesome

My thoughts precisely.

Will do.
Will do.
Most of the time I like the version that I hear first better. I don't know if it's because I hear it first or not. So that might be why you'll like the Iron & Wine version. But then again maybe you'll like the original better, I don't know. Either way, it's a great song from both artists.

Actually, I picked Iron and Wine first because I misunderstood the poll. But yeah, I see what you're saying. I wouldn't be surprised if TPS version is superior.

The Postal Service ftw. But on the other hand, I also like how Sam puts his own spin on it and it sounds like a different song altogether

With a few minor tweaks, it would be the perfect middle between Postal Service urgency and Iron & Wine mellowness.

Ben's beard is quite impressive... I think he may have been using it to channel Sam.
