Search function is broken, and I couldn't find any threads on this: I'm considering switching from a business major to a history major. I realize that a business major is probably the best route to a good job, but I'm not enjoying my classes at all right now, and my grades are slipping as a result of it. I've achieved my best grades in history classes, and it's a subject that actually interests me. The only problem is: I have no interest in teaching when I'm out of school, and I've heard it can be dificult to find a career outside of that profession with a history degree. Can any history majors help me out?

If you want to still be unemployed, living at home, and eating taco bell everynight after you graduate then switch to being a history major. Do you have any real world job experience or any skills to offer a future employer? If not, I'd concentrate on finding a major that is practical and will be marketable when looking for a job. A history degree is worthless unless you are connected, teaching or attend an ivy league school. I don't mean to sound like a dick I'm just offering my realistic advice. Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice, I need as many opinions as I can get. One thing I thought about doing was getting my undergraduate in history, minoring in something business, and then going to graduate school for business. Not sure if you know anything about this, but do you think getting a minor would prepare me enough for graduate business school?

being a history major myself, getting a degree in history alone is useless. you'd need to couple it with a worthwhile major or a minor that will get you somewhere (a foreign language, education, political science). unless you plan on going to grad school you'd be wasting your time and energy.

I doubt it. Why would you want to do graduate level business school when you feel you aren't able to keep up with the undergraduate level? I'm not really following that logic.

Im a business major switching to a history major. I dont know what I can really do with it but aint a big business fan. Although I will most likely end up doing both of those majors considering Ill have a lot of the requirements. Also history and business are amazing for each other. Easily to get a job with although im not sure why.
