I just did a search, and surprisingly nothing came up so I figured I would start a thread.

What's everyones opinions on the new album?

I guess so... I searched a few different times and a few different things and it just kept saying that nothing was found.

Disregard this thread.

Haven't given the full album a listen but Kids In Love is a great song, imo.

New album is definitely not as good as ALIR or TTBDF, but there's a few killer tracks as well.

It's really good. It's different, but they are a different band now. It is going to rip live. Very recommended.

I just heard it for the first time....it is not bad but not as good as their old stuff. I thought the lyrics are by far the weakest part of the cd. They seem really soft serve and kinda cheezy.

have you listened to the entire thing already? i'm pretty sure it won't be as good as i'm hoping, based on the three songs i've heard, but i'm waiting to buy it anyway. i'm so bummed out though haha.

I've listened to it all, only a few songs live up to expectations.

Anyways, guys there's a bunch of other threads that have been posted above. Please use the official one. Search wasn't working earlier so I thought there wasn't one up.

Was going to wait to buy it, but first few songs I heard on their Myspace and everything weren't all that good, so I thought it was definitely an album I had to give a listen to before deciding to throw down money on it.

Honestly, there's so many other albums I would rather buy right now. It's a decent album, but there's only like 4 songs that really caught my attention. Nowhere near as good as their old stuff.

This is what I've heard, even though I haven't listened to the album yet; musically good but lyrically insufficient.

yeah i wasn't impressed by the songs on myspace either. i'm pretty much assuming it's not going to be that good, i mean i know it's not another a lesson in romantics, but i might have to give in and listen now.

New album is pretty bad. There's a couple good songs (If You Can't Live Without Me, I Swear This Time I Mean It, Get Up, and one other one, I think), but the lyrics are terrible.

all mayday parades lyrics are cheesy.

the new albums definitely not as good as alir on first listen, but i think it will grow on me just like the last one did.

I don't think all mayday parade lyrics are cheesy. One man drinking games is the one that sticks out to me to show how good they could be lyrically. (don't now if Jason had a part in writing their older stuff). I still think the new album is catchy I just don't think its as good as they can be.

i agree with you, except i do think this is good as they can be without jason, i think he had a huge part in how good their past two releases were, and now they're just another average pop punk band with the exception of a few songs

They'll be known for Jamie All Over WAY more than for Miserable At Best.

Jason wrote all of their past lyrics

the opening line to Miserable at Best is "Katy Don't Cry. . ."

Katy is Jason's wife and now Jake pretends to sing it in their music video

I can never look past that kind of disrespect to like this band ever again

I agree with whoever said this is the best they could do without him. It isn't the complete train wreck I imagined it would be but the lyrics are the worst i have ever heard

and too me they will always be known for the beautiful, "Three Cheers for Five Years"

So as a Mayday Parade record, this is awful. They are a different band without Jason.

As a pop rock record...it's really not that bad. Very We the Kings.

Am I the only one who almost feels like I can hear Jason singing "east coast, west coast" in Get Up? Seriously, it would've been the perfect place to put Jason vox.

That's not disrespect... Jason isn't in the band, they had to cover the vocals somehow. It made sense to do it that way.

I don't know man

I talked to Jason about it and he seemed pretty hurt by it

I'm not friends with Jason or anything but I have talked to him a few times

I just don't really think they gave him credit he deserves for making A Lesson In Romantics a good album

If he wanted the credit and to be in the video, he should have stayed in the band.

Which would be very hard to accomplish when a band KICKS you out...

I just disagree. I think that the new Mayday stuff I have heard is absolute garbage. The two brand new Go Radio songs are enjoyable to me. Their old stuff is decent at best.

I just find Go Radio (both old and new) to be extremely boring and monotonous.

I never thought I would say it, but they took a hit when Jason left. Songwriting in particular, IMO.
