The world's first USB turntable (http://ion-audio.com/products/turntables/iTTUSB.html). Pretty cool actually.

Whoa that's sweet. My turntable just broke so this is something I should start saving up for.
I wonder how much it costs...

edit//
I had to find out about this after I went around bamboozle buying CD copies of the vinyls I own.

If you knew where to look, you'd see that most vinyl is already ripped in the highest of quality.. including that song. :)

There's this: http://createdigitalmusic.com/?p=543

Google around, you'll find ways, but as for native USB support--nope, this vinyl monster is the first.

Also, on a related note.. there should be more awesome USB devices like this.

Things I want in USB2.0 at an affordable price:

USB soundcard with all relevant lines.
USB radio tuner
USB tv tuner

The USB PC remotes are decent, but they need to have some real company make them.. the bootleg shits you can buy from East China all suck.

this is perfect for my dad. he's manually ripping all of his vinyl to itunes now using garage band. this would be much easier for him.

If you have a large collection of vinyl, this is clutch--or so it seems, I want to read some consumer reviews.

Does anyone know how the analog to digital converters sound on it? Anyone actually own it? I want to pick one up but I need to make sure its not going to sound like crap. What about supported sample and bit rates?

I just downloaded the manual, here is some more random info:

-It has a 1/8'' stereo line input for tape players or anything else (convert tapes to digital too)
-Its belt drive, not direct.
-Still no idea about supported sample rates and bit depths. I'm sure its at least 44.1khz 16 bit, but i'm just insterested to know if higher quality is supported.

USB 1.1? That is sad. This could have been amazing but why the back step in technology with that? That would make it take forever to transfer to your pc or mac. Maybe when it comes in 2.0 thats all it needs.

You don't need any faster to deliver 2 channels of CD quality audio. Its not like the connector is different than USB2. If they threw USB2 in there, it would drive the cost up. I'm not sure if you realize, but you have to press play on the turntable and it records to the computer in realtme. Why would you need a faster "transfer" rate?! Just think about it. Alhough they could also use USB2 or Firewire to deliver higher quality audio (DVD Quality instead of just CD), the upgraded A/D converter would also drive the cost up even more. I think that defeats the purpose of who this turntable is marketed for. Before I was wondering if it woul deliver higher than CD quality audio, but I just realized.....why? As long as the converter doesn't sound like shit (it is true, not all converters are the same), CD quality is more than enough for vinyl conversions.

so I can still hook this up to my receiver? I'd like to rip some exclusive tracks from my vinyl but I'd still like to use it as a stand alone player. There's just something about putting on a record and having a beer that just gets me.

that is an utter waste of money. the sound is terrible.

its cheaper to just get an input cable from radio shack for like $4 and plug it into your microphone input on your computer and record it using some freeware to record it. thats what i do and the sound quality is way better than that piece of crap

fuck yea, i have tons of old vinyl (get up kids, less than jake, weston, rancid). now i can listen to it all again!

btw the whole vinyl thing sucked. can you believe people actually claimed vinyl sounded better than cds? and bands would put out all kinds of good stuff on vinyl and not on cd... man that used to piss me off something fierce.

do you own it? i have plans on buying it. plans are to use it mostly as a stand alone player more than ripping vinyl but if it sounds terrible as a stand alone that i'm going to look for something better.
