The Dear Hunter is just amazing. I want to make this comparison, even though it's purely subjective, that TDH > Coheed and Cambria.
The TDH's music is much more engaging and thought out, even though Coheed are helluva musicians, themselves. I do enjoy TDH's storyline more, also... it's somewhat relateable.
Weren't the TREoS albums like a concept as well?

I firmly agree. Coheed definitely has the upper hand as far as musicianship. I love Coheed but TDH gives me the chills at so many points in any given album and on repeated listens. One of my favorite things is their dynamics, Be it vocally or musically going from the softer singing to the screaming that Casey does is just incredible. Plus as you said its a really great story, I don't have the slightest clue what is going on in the Coheed storyline.
I believe TREoS also had that central storyline/theme as well.

One of the main things I like about TDH is how in Act II, there are many musical themes that show their face many times. Like the intro, and the hook to Evicted. Kinda like how the Beatles did Abbey Road, and had many reoccurring themes.
Yet, I don't know if this is the case musically with Act III, I haven't really listened to that one as of yet.

I can't believe all of the antifans of TREOS on this forum! I am one of many people who firmly believe TREOS was one of the best bands to ever roam this planet. For everyone who hates them or either of their records, you are misunderstanding fantastic musicians in the same way that our culture doesn't see the greatness in Beethoven. Even if TREOS don't fit your tastes, they should be respected. Especially by Dear Hunter fans, because Casey wouldn't be where he is today if not for TREOS. I can understand if TDH is a bit more pallatable for the ears of regular scene fans, and TDH's music is more ambitious on the surface level, but that doesn't mean fans have to pick one band and despise the other! Anyone I have ever shown TREOS to have been completely floored by them, being emersed in a musical experience they have never before felt, whereas as TDH is even too weird for me to enjoy sometimes. I hope TDH lasts and prospers for as long as they can, but I know TREOS have affected people heart, mind, and soul with only two albums, and that is a legacy that shall last forever.Don't get your silly words caught between the heart and the synapse. Respect.

I love how there are just certain bands that generate an incredible amount of hate for no good reason. TREOS is obviously one of them. Were they brilliant? no. Did they use a shit ton of effects and delay? yes. Does that instantly discredit them? no. They weren't that great but they certainly weren't "terrible" either.

Have you ever said a band sucks?
I'm pretty sure you have, thus they apply to you. I have a hard time thinking you're the only person in the world who has never bashed a musician.
news flash: essentially every band ever at one point in time "writes what they wanted to write" and "plays the type of music they wanted to play", that doesn't mean they are placed on a pedestal so that people can't criticize them. i don't see how you keep missing this point. then again, you think TREOS was a good band.

criticism is cool. being an ass is not. when i don't like a band, i generally just don't listen to it and i don't go out of my way to tell someone that does like the band that they suck. of course there is music i don't like but i acknowledge that art is subjective and my opinion isn't fact. btw, there are plenty of bands that play music they don't like for many reasons. these guys were/are honest and passionate musicians.

music discussion usually involves dissenting voices, besides, you don't really care about me "being an ass", you care about the fact that I don't like a band you do. This is true because I don't see you complaining about the statement "you can't name a more complete album than this one" which is pretty much one an asshole would make.
of course there is music i don't like but i acknowledge that art is subjective and my opinion isn't fact.
Apparently you don't since you're complaining that my opinion is different than yours.
btw, there are plenty of bands that play music they don't like for many reasons. these guys were/are honest and passionate musicians.
Who are you to say this? A band's intentions behind their music is so vague/indeterminable that unless they outright state "we're doing this to be popular/make money", you can't really know. I could easily say the same thing about TREOS, that they wrote purposely scenester music to get a fanbase and they just failed at getting popular. Who's to say that isn't the case? Who's to say it is?
This is why I said that it's pointless to say "you can't bash bands because they do what they want to do".

Who's to say it is?
This is why I said that it's pointless to say "you can't bash bands because they do what they want to do".
its the way you go around and say shit just to stir it up. and im not complaining about your opinion. from the get go ive been complaining about the WAY you came in here and say they deserve so much hate. that is the only reason im sitting here having this discussion. as far as arguing with the guy who said "you can't name a more complete album than this one," well i'll just say i don't have the same opinion as he does. but his demand was directed to you and not me, and like i've tried to tell you, i'm not one to butt into random discussions and start shit for no reason, especially since in the case of this discussion, we are on the same side in defending this album. i'm sure you'll cling onto everythign i said and pull arbitrary reasons out of the air to "prove" why i'm wrong, but i'll just say this is pointless and i know it, i went and saw what you do, you go and make fun of bands you don't like and then purposely go to where their fans are to get into arguments for the sake of arguing. i'm sure it fills out your day but i have way more important things to do. I know i won't convince you and you won't convince me. lets leave it there.
