Hey there! Newbie here!

Last month I was at a local punk gig (4ft Fingers - yey) with some mates, when this group of punks we know came over and started giving us shit for being there saying we werent in the 'punk scene' and we weren't 'punk enough'. I've had enough of this so I'm gonna get this off my chest. When punk started, punk was about being who you wanted to be and doing what you wanted and the suggestion of someone not being 'punk enough' for the 'punk scene' was stupid. I got into punk when I about 6, through my mums Sex Pistols, the Clash and Buzzcock records, but because I don't wear converse sneakers or skater shorts, I'm not a punk?
SO basically is it just me or have the values on which punk was built and flourished upon been thrown out the window for corporate punk?

I've had enough of this so I'm gonna get this off my ass. When toiletry started, shit was about being who you wanted to be and shitting what you wanted and the suggestion of someone not being 'smelly enough' for the 'toilet scene' was pisslike. I got into shit when I about 6, through my mums fart pistols, the Clash of poo and Buzzcock records, but because I don't wear brown sneakers or brown shorts, I'm not a shit?

heres how i do things

i dont fucking worry about the technical shit about music scenes. and whether they have been ruined or not. or whats punk or whats not. dont worry about any shit like that, its music. if ya like it listen to it, if not then dont. if you happened to like a band who's fan base consisted of 12 year old girls, who gives a fuck. who really cares if a band sold out or not. who cares if a band is all over the radio and mtv. who gives a shit! fuck, its just music.

I always find the "I'm more punk than you" kids amusingly pathetic. Why waste so much time worrying about other people's "punk" status? They kinda remind me of those kids who violently denounce gays and tell gay jokes only to later come out of the closet and say that they've always been gay and they only made fun of gay people so that no one would think they were gay themselves. Perhaps that was too complicated...what I'm trying to say is that these super-punks are probably just so fucking insecure in their "punkness" that they have to shit on everyone else to show what hardcore badasses they are. Lame.

It was sarcasm. Any body who lives outside of the US and owns one should be beaten with a lead pipe!
