View Full Version : Jimmy Fallon used to be funny
Okay, I hate him and his crappy show as much as the next guy... but I found this clip from when he was younger and he was pretty entertaining. What happened? If you had told me 10 years ago this kid would one day have his own talk show, I'd be all for it.

His Adam Sandler impression at 2:40 is golden.

It's beyond me why he gets so much hate. It's like saying SNL isn't as funny as it used to be, it's just a lazy and easy opinion to have.

Haha, aw. I think Jimmy's great on Late Night. He was shaky at first but now he's in his groove.
I just wish there wasn't 2 hours of late night TV + late local news in front of him.

Totally. He's the best talk show host ranging from tonight shows to late night. Playing beer pong and shuffleboard with your guests? It doesn't get better than that. Yes, he laughs in all of his snl sketches, bu tit happens. I support him.

I don't agree with your opinion so it's a lazy and easy one to have.
I enjoy that logic immensely.

It's one thing to just not think someone is not funny. That's fine. But more often than not, it's easier to jump on the bandwagon and go over the top with it. Which it usually seems like.
Glad you do since it's apparently so common.

I still think he's funny, but in a different way. I think he's just sort of mellowed out since when he was younger.

His talk show has certainly grown on me. Sure there are some bits that are rather bad, but he is definitely finding his niche.

His show is like SNL's "The Chris Farley Show". He reads a question straight from his cue card, the guest answers, then he replies with "that's awesome".

I disagree that he's better than everyone else. Conan > Letterman > Leno > Fallon (IMO). He's much better than Craig Kilborn, Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson, or any of those other asshats.
Conan is still king.

I like about 90% of his show, and the other ten percent is growing on me. He wasn't very good at first, but I definitely think he's a lot better, and he always makes me laugh.

Jimmy has put together a pretty good show. Anyone's whos watched it enough can tell he's grown enough into being the host. There are some pretty good bits on there, along with having the best musical guests out of any of the late night shows, and not to mention The Roots. It's a pretty fun show to watch a lot of the time. Looking forward to the Yacht rock show monday.

I enjoy Fallon's show more than Leno, but I mostly agree with that.

Wow, we nearly disagree completely. I would actually still put Conan on top because I've been a conan fan forever, but I think that Letterman and Leno are absolute trash. Trying to watch a late night show at 10 PM ET (letterman/leno time) was like choosing between the lesser of two terrible hosts. If I had to order it, I'd go:
conan>fallon>kilborn/kimmel>leno>letterman>craig ferguson. I still can't figure out how the hell Craig ferguson still has a show. He is complete garbage. It's seriously baffling.

Jimmy Fallon performed at my college last year. He was really great. And I just saw his show last night, it was funny. Stop hatin people. But everyone knows Conan is the king of late night.

Conan > Letterman > Leno > Fallon
Exactly.
Also, anyone who thinks SNL is better now than, say, 10 years ago, is either too young to have watched it then or has a very weird taste in comedy. It's not terrible, but it just doesn't have the depth of cast talent it used to.

Jimmy Fallon's late night show would have to be my favorite out of all of them, I just wish it wasn't on so late. I don't know why you guys like Conan so much! His show is okay, but it's too similar to his late night show. And, yeah, Craig Fergson needs to quit. I watched one of his shows just for the heck of it, and I honestly don't understand how he's still on the air.

He used to ruin many SNL skits due to the fact he couldn't keep a straight face and would always laugh and make others laugh. And his new talk show sucks. And SNL isn't as funny as it used to be. Not a lazy opinion just a fact

I don't hate Fergerson. He does some fairly interesting things with his show. It's just not my taste really.

Not really fair since he was on that show for I think 6 years and usually the sketches he would laugh were often the ones everyone did. Probably because Will Ferrel was in them. And that last part is opinion, not fact. Don't confuse the two.

I really don't see much of a difference between Fallon now and that clip. I like his show. It's not great, but it's entertaining and that's exactly why I watch the late night shows.

How is that not fair? Dudes a professional actor. You'd think he could do a sketch without laughing more often.

Because he was on there for 6 Years. There's a little selective memory there. Sure he would crack up from time to time, but it's gets exaggerated. I doubt they keep you on that show if you "ruin" every sketch you are in. SNL has no hesitation about that sort of thing.

Even if it was not every time it was to any fucking times. Was very very annoying. Even when he kept it together he was not that funny

I think you're argument about this topic is biased by the bolded fact. You don't think he's funny, which is fine, but I think that distorts your view of how often he "ruined" sketches by laughing.

To each his own then. I liked him on SNL. People treat it as if he is the first person to crack up in a sketch. I did not think it was that bad.

lol. i don't think he does...
about fallon, i actually never liked him. i wan't into his snl stuff really, and then i saw that abomination, taxi. i haven't really given him a shot since.
well, i did like fever pitch, but that's all i can think of, and it was only ok.
Fallon's show got a lot better since it first came on. It has some funny stuff. His interviews need work though.
That fake reality show bit he does is great, and he usually has a good monologue with better jokes than Conan.
Conan SUCKED for the first couple years. It takes a while to find yourself on these shows.
