I agree that they're currently on a very similar level and Brand New did it in less albums but also look at the diversity thrice has made their way through. Can you think of anyone who has experimented that much with their sound and progressed so much?

I'm surprised how close this poll is. I was kind of waiting for it, though. As much as I am a fan of both bands, I have been listening to Beggars a LOT more lately than Daisy.
Brand New have been amazing, but their music has been changing to what I'm not too into, whereas Thrice have been good, and their music has been changing into some amazing stuff.
It's like they were each on the opposite ends of the spectrum and at this point, Thrice narrowly surpassed Brand New.

What makes this cd so mature? Why is this marked as their most progressive and mature album? I don't see why songs like vices, gasoline, and sink are so mature. To me, those are specifically what the "70x7 followers" are looking for. So i'm just curious as to why you believe this is easily their best album. Again, just curious.

it isn't in lyrics, or even necessarily the instrumentation. it is in the raw energy and power in the delivery in the music. it's the metaphorical fire and forest that don't burn in the previous albums. i am not by any means a brand new fan boy. i skip over all of weapon, most of deja, and 3-4 songs on devil and god. but daisy is such a pure and straightforward album. it is clear to me that jesse, vinnie and the rest pour their soul into this album, in the same vein as kurt cobain pouring his soul into in utero. this, to me, is the most personal album the group has written, and it stands out to me as an album that isn't trying to reach any specific audience or 'scene'. it is almost a confessional from jesse and vin, and i love how that confession played out.
