Listening to this now... Very intrigued by this for sure.
EDIT: Liking the guitar solos. It seems like it stays the same for most of the song, though.

Quoted.
It's nice but that's all there is to it.
I'm not really into it because it just sounds like he is singing it and not doing anything with the song/lyrics.
Oh well...
Sorry to be mean but it seem like your cover lack emotion, it's like you're not feeling it. Stephen did it so perfectly so I'm a little bit bias too.

Yeah I was kind of going for a more laid back almost "campfire" type sound, so it was a little tough on the choruses to not over or under sing. Just thought it would be cool to hear a totally different feeling and version of such an awesome song.
Pretty good. I like it. And Anberlin is my favourite band so I'm pretty hard to please haha. Tricky song to cover acoustically. Props.

Not just emotion, charisma...
Not even a big fan of this song, but Stephen might have set the bar too high for generic singers to cover.

Thanks so much for the compliments guys, glad you liked it! And as for the lack of emotion/charisma, I'm always looking to improve my voice, so that's something I know I have to work on now, so thanks for that too!

whoa. i enjoyed this WAY more than i thought i would. I think the only problem is in the "Speak for yourself" parts, you need a little more emotion. Stephen's voice is DRIPPING with the stuff in the original, and in that part you need a bit more power in your voice to push it over the edge and make this cover truly amazing. Thank you for doing one of my fav songs off of New Surrender justice :-)

Well I'm glad you liked it! Thanks so much. Yeah, I don't think I could ever sing that song with as much emotion and "awesomeness" as Stephen did. He's one amazing singer.
