The whole time me and him and Drake were doing the GQ shoot, Wale was bitching and being aggravated that clothes weren’t in his size, just really not cooperating and being difficult, and just being a diva. The photographer was like, “Wale, c’mon, smile a bit” and he was like, “Man, I don’t smile, let these other guys smile.” I was like, what kind of shit is that? In my head I’m thinking, “man, this is GQ. If these ****** want you to smile, smile.” We just got picked for “Men of the Year,” that shit is awesome. yeah i don't know what he's talking about. i don't think he listens to as much hip-hop as your typical hip-hop artist. i remember him being interviewed before the BET Awards years ago on their red carpet and he was asked what he listened to that year & what was his favorite rap album of the year or something and he goes (obviously paraphrasing) "I listened to a lot of Miles Davis & other jazz shit. yeah i don't know what he's talking about. i don't think he listens to as much hip-hop as your typical hip-hop artist. i remember him being interviewed before the BET Awards years ago on their red carpet and he was asked what he listened to that year & what was his favorite rap album of the year or something and he goes (obviously paraphrasing) "I listened to a lot of Miles Davis & other jazz shit. But I liked T-Pain's cd" hahaha
hahahaha. i feel that this whole mainstream rap scene is completely disconnected from the 'underground' one. however, i remember kanye posting pos's music video last year which i thought was really really cool.

i definitely feel that's true. in a recent interview they asked Lupe if lyricism was dead and he said that he likes what Drake & Rick Ross are doing. i'm thinking there are tons of artists not as well known doing better & more clever things lyrics-wise than these two, but i guess he just doesn't listen to them. at the same time though, what's cool about Lupe is he's had his own crew he's tried to promote and do tracks with over the years. now on Lasers, he's got an r&b artist none of us has heard of on a few tracks and the only person with a guest verse is a British artist named Sway, who many have probably never listened to.

Cudi's older stuff is way good. I loved when he would collab with indie bands and put out quality original stuff. But, with Rager I felt like I couldn't enjoy it unless I was way stoned out of my mind.
