This is not good at all. Sounds like something you'd see on one of those Christian Rock compilation commercials.

I hope this is a track that was supposed to have been destroyed after Chris realized how fucking terrible it is, but somebody forgot to scrub the hard drive enough and they recovered this shitty mp3 that now we get to listen to. This song is really fucking bad.

Yeah... this song actually turns me off from even wanting to hear the album. The single isn't that bad, kinda corny, but it's okay. I hope Chris didn't become a born-again Christian and collaborate with some mundane God rock artist. You had it right -- this belongs on some WOW comp.

Also, any song that uses the lyrics "Cuddles up beside me" should either be a lullaby or for tissue paper ads.

I don't care whether he's a born again Christian, because that shouldn't effect his ability to write a good song. However, I am concerned that he's forgotten how to write good songs.

I was really hoping for more of the direction Shade of Poison Trees took.

Hopefully this is fake.

Also, according to the track listing someone posted the other day the opening track is 'Get Me Right'.. there's no way this is the opening song? Right? :suave:

I really hope its not.. but unless there's some sort of elaborate conspiracy.. it looks like it is.

Whatever his faith is, I don't give a shit -- I just want him to leave that cheeseball sentiment out of the songs. Sure, he's been known to be a lovelorn fella, but at least his lyrics were a saving grace (no pun intended). Last two albums had some moody optimism to them, and I loved that -- I just don't want another mainstream pop-rock record built for primetime TV.

i think he's always been a Christian. sorry if it's been said, but in th thread on the front page about the new song, someone posted this about further seems forever. It's from wikipdea:

They have also been classified as a Christian rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_rock) act due to the individual band members' religious beliefs, frequent themes of Christianity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity) in their lyrics, their association with the predominantly Christian Tooth & Nail Records (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tooth_%26_Nail_Records) label, and their performances at Christian-themed festivals such as Cornerstone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornerstone_Festival).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Further_Seems_Forever#cite_note-greenwald-0) Despite these associations, the group often claimed not to be an explicitly Christian band, but rather a rock band with Christian members.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Further_Seems_Forever#cite_note-1)

That was the label's doing. I remember reading in an old interview years ago on here (don't even think it's in the database anymore -- it was like 04 or 05) that the rest of the band hated being put in that genre, and that was part of the reason they were so angry at T&N for putting that compilation out a few years back. Jon Bunch and Jason Gleason (Gleason in particular) tried to distance the band from that label and be more alt-rock.

Interesting, but I just meant that (at least some of them) are Christians. Chris is, or at least has some background in it, as is obvious in this song.

Wow. I dont understand all the big name users here on ap.net hating this song at all. I just don't get it. It has a Brand New vibe to it and yeah the lyrics might be kinda cheesy but it still sounds good to my ears...apparently I must be deaf or something?

Haha sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was like "WRONG!" I just know FSF never wanted to be seen as a Christian band. I'm sure Chris is -- these are just the first lyrics I've heard of his that were so blatant yet cheeseball about it.

It's definitely real. Even if it's not actually Chris singing this is actually the song.

I saw him play this live back at the start of 2008 and he said the inspiration was took from when he used to work with a highly religious black woman and she used to tell him off for the way he lived and said he needs to get right or something like that, I don't think it'd snything to do with him being a religious nut. All in all I can say I like the riff and the verse melody, but not much more than that.

This, this and this. Gratuitous hate for some really really neat single. And this is coming from someone madly in love with Daisy right now, but this single has better lyrics than any song of that record. And I fuckin' love Daisy right now because I'm not only jamming Daisy, but dating one girl called Daisy too.

This song is a great single. All the hate this song is getting is incredibly misleading.

It really can be, depending on the execution, and this song does venture into cheesiness, but people are overreacting. It's no more cheesy than any other Dashboard song, except it's a Christian cheesy instead of a romantic cheesy.
