no Phillipe Mexes? the guy shits all over Jean Alain - the donkey - Boumsong.

Mexes wasn't very good this year.
Franck Ribéry (Olympique de Marseille) will be one the biggest surprise you will see at the World Cup.
the french seem to have a pretty strong attack. Are the starting forwards Trezeguet and Henry, or will Saha get any time? What type of formation do they play?

The only strong part of the team is the offense. Zidane and Thuram are getting old, and the remaining team overall lacks a little strength and experience . I hope they do well though.

The defence looks abit weak and aged, but going forward they should be strong. I expect a good performance from them this time after they failed to show up at the last World Cup.

If only Sven decided on the number of strikers france did . . .
I don't like England, but I'd like to see them do well. Or maybe I don't? I'm mixed about this.
About Ribery (i can't put accents), from what I've seen of him he's turning into a great player. I think he'll excell in the world cup, but won't be the brightest young star. That is reserved for Lennon. And not John (or Neil).
It's almost criminal that France will only play Henry up front. I think their fowards are nearly as good as Brazil's.
I think that Mexes warrented a spot more than Boumsong or Silvestre.

Sven is the reason why England have only won 1 world cup. I can;t believe Boumsong and Bean Head Silvestre actually play in the premiership. As a Man United fan i whince every time I see Silvestre on the team sheet. Both these players are liabilities.

Well Silvestre is just getting old. I think he is still a better than average premiership player. Should he start for ManU? Probably not, and he rarely does anymore. He still good enough to start for a team like Boro or some other mid to bottom table team. he's premiership caliber, just not Champions League caliber.
I think there is a lot more to England only winning one world cup than Sven. They couldn't beat Germany in 2002. Sven wasn't at fault in 1990.

The Dutch Squad
Goalkeepers: Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax Amsterdam), Henk Timmer (AZ Alkmaar).
Defenders: Kew Jaliens (AZ Alkmaar), Jan Kromkamp (Liverpool), Andre Ooijer (PSV Eindhoven), John Heitinga (Ajax Amsterdam), Khalid Boulahrouz (SV Hamburg), Joris Mathijsen (AZ Alkmaar), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Barcelona), Tim de Cler (AZ Alkmaar).
Midfielders: Mark van Bommel (Barcelona), Philip Cocu (PSV Eindhoven), Denny Landzaat (AZ Alkmaar), Hedwiges Maduro (Ajax Amsterdam), Wesley Sneijder (Ajax Amsterdam), Rafael van der Vaart (SV Hamburg).
Strikers: Dirk Kuijt (Feyenoord), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Manchester United), Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (PSV Eindhoven), Arjen Robben (Chelsea), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Ryan Babel (Ajax Amsterdam).
The fact that Van Basten didn't include Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (leading scorer in the Eredivisie this season and last, and all of 22 years of age) is ridiculous. Basten said that current form didn't matter because they have 3 weeks to train, then justified not including George Boateng becuase "in our opinion he has not done too well in the last months and (Ajax defender) John Heitinga was doing better and better in that same period. "
Wouldn't that be current form?
I know I'm nitpicking, but since Ireland is out because of Zidine, Holland is all I have left. I think this team can make it to the semis. At the same time, they might not make it out of the group stage. Either way they will be entertaining.
Here's the only video i found on Youtube.com about Ribéry : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcAyHg4yCcA
Holland have brilliant young players:
Heitinga, Jan Huntelaar and Sneijder especially.

Why why Seedorf isn't in the squad ? I don't understand.

why is it sad, the US is a solid team, plus they are ranked 4th in the world right now, france is ranked 7.
yes.... ranked 4th in the world..... care to explain to me why?

if someone would like to explain to me why they think US are ranked 4th in the world (hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha)... id...... love (hahahahah) to hear it.

Yeah. I think Van Basten thought he was too old and Seedorf disagreed. Plus the Dutch are trying to get away from the whole internal fighting they seem to always have, that may also be the reasoning behind not including Seedorf or Davids, who doesn't deserve a place, but was(is when he tries) a hell of a player.

because we totally dominate costa rica, jamaica, and panama, thats why...
yea, hardest game of your international season in Mexico, haha.

England's hardest game to qualify for the WC was in Belfast. You really shouldn't talk. Mexico > Austria, Poland, Wales, Azerbaijan, and Northern Ireland.
I'll give you credit though, England did play Argentina. The only good team we've played in a friendly is Germany with about 2 of our starters and we got rocked.
Our hardest was really in Germany, not Mexico. Although we normally do lose in Mexico City. I still find it hilarious that Donaven pissed on the field there. I didn't like him before that.
Wessa do you have any idea why he is fluent in Spanish? I've always wondered why. Maybe he's just good with languages,

Still a bit unsure about the Dutch squad...they will no doubt be the most unpredicatable team in the World Cup, you cant ever say oh Holland are gonna win...or Holland are going straight out. On previous form, it takes them 2 games to actually knit the side together! Im also pretty sure someone will fallout or whatever...too many egos, haha.

maybe he wants to play in the spanish lea....oh wait, no, he's a pussy and won't leave america, haha. I actually didn't know he was fluent in spanish, but i guess that can only help him when playing against mexico.
I like your point about england's route to the world cup, but i have to say that CONCACAF qualifying is a little unfair. Mexico and the USA are soooo much more skilled than any of the other teams. They are pretty much guaranteed to qualify for every world cup. In Europe, though, top teams are left out of the world cup every year.
Which brings me to a side question: Does anyone think they should rework the amount of teams in the world cup? I think it is unfair that world class teams can be left out just so every area of the world is represented. The Dutch did not make the last world cup and they are regularly ranked in the top ten. I agree it is good to have representation from all over and it is very positive for these small, lesser known countries to have a chance to play and show some national pride (trinidad and tobago comes to mind). The only thing that I can think of is increasing the number of teams in the tournament.

I don't see him playing out side of the US until the MLS can get atleast 8 million pounds for him.
Unless he'd Golden Boot at this WC, I don't think the MLS would sell him. He's the closest thing to Beckham (solely in terms of image, not ability) that male american soccer has, atleast until Freddy Adu develops/plays well/grows six inches.
A mexican newspaper was interviewing him and he was saying some pretty funny things about Mexico's manager in spanish, so I assume he's fluent or very close. I also thing I saw Telemundo interview him while i was watching a CONCAF tournament game.
He has played for Bayenr Leverkusen in two different spells. the first he was waaaaaaaaaaaay to young and didn't play much because he wasn't good, or developed, enough. The second I don't believe the manager liked him and he played well in the chances he had, but the manager mainly keep him on the bench.
I don't think Donovan will ever be a presence on the World stage. When he retires, I think he'll be the greatest or the second greatest American player. I don't know how he'd be able to handle playing every weekend in a league with stiffer competition. Beasley is the only MLS player who has gone to Europe and been able to keep his place.
I don't count Convey because he hasn't played in the EPL. Although the Championship is a higher level than the MLS. Howard played amazingly for a year then fell apart. I really thought he'd excell. I was disappointed. I hope he plays like he used to for Everton next year.
(Sorry this is so long, I sort of had a lot to say. lol)

Poland are just as good as Mexico... but those are some of the weaker teams England come up against on our travels... Czech Republic, Croatia, Ukraine etc all really tough opponents.
Kasey Kellar did... ok... for Tottenham for a few years.

first, i think mexico is slightly better than poland.
second, mexico is one of the hardest places to play, period. The US team is HATED there and the altitude is very different. Fitness is always a problem because of the altitude problem. The Mexicans are used to it, the visiting teams are not. That is a huge advantage for the mexicans.

Onyewu has always played in Europe, I'm like 95% sure of that. Plus he's never played in a top division. I think the MLS is slightly better than the Belgian League.
I totally forgot Bocanegra and McBride, so thank you about that.

Poland aren't as good as Poland, even though the ranking are totally fucked up Mexico got a seed, none of the teams you named got one.
Italy's Gambling problem of a Number 1 > England's Number 1 > USA's Number 1
The thing about the mexicans being used to the altitude isn't totally true, since most of the national tema now play in Europe. They do get to train there which makes it a better advantage. Also, Chili really should be better at football, since they get to train at a higher altitude.
