The music creates an incredible feeling of paranoia & mystery. It has build-up, crescendo, and release. It's borderline neo-classical in the best possible way. The casual music listener (i.e. the people that are like 'Aiden is my favorite band') probably wouldn't enjoy this band too much. They are a band for artists by artists. I mean, this music gets composed!

I think the OP wasn't only trying to say that a 24-minute song makes it suck, but more the fact that 22 of the 24 minutes consist of a guy talking, or one note being held for minutes at a time. Godspeed is boring besides the two minutes of each song where they do something cool. But I'll admit, those two minutes usually are awesome. Just not worth sitting the through the other 22.

Well that's the thing, I love bands with ambience and weird stuff like Animal Collective and things like that, I just don't get why they feel the need to drag it out so long. It seems like (I could be wrong) the only purpose of the unconventional length is to be different, and it jsut bugs me when it seems like bands are trying to hard.
