As the console wars seem to be heating up after E3 this week I, and i'm sure many others, have questions about the systems. I'm not totally sure what system I am getting yet so I'm trying to get more information on the systems, like the differences between the $299/$399 Xbox, $499/$599 PS3, Wii. I would hope we could start a thread to post information so we don't have to look all over the internet about the different functions available. Please don't take this as an opportunity to trash another system the threads are getting littered with it and its pretty discouraging, if you have something bad to say please don't slam a system, just provide your point on why you believe that way. Perhaps if we get enough info on the systems and everyone contributes we could sticky this thread as a reference instead of having 30/40 different threads in the upcoming months about PS3/Wii/360

Some questions I have:

If you get an $299 Xbox can you buy wireless controllers or are you stuck with the wired ones?

Is the only difference between the PS3 pricing the Hard drive's or is there more to it?

How much is Xbox Live/PS3 online/Wii's online capabilities?

I've heard that the PS3's Blu-ray is only going to output in 480 because of the component outputs, what other outputs is it going to have? DVI?

is that how they are going to offer the other systems games, also what all else might be provided with Wii's online

There will be a Virtual Console service that allows you to download a large library NES, SNES, and N64 games via the online service. There has been no word yet on pricing.

1. Yes, you can get wireless controllers with the core.

2. I believe there are some differences, but as of now, nothing is set in stone. What I've been hearing is that the $499 version will not have HDMI.

3. There are 2 versions of Xbox Live, Silver and Gold. Silver is free, and allows you to access the marketplace, xbox live arcade, demos, and trailers and free online play on SELECT DAYS ONLY (among other things). Gold is roughly $50 a year and offers all these things plus online play (VERY GOOD VALUE).
Check out http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/memberships/ for more info.

4. In theory, that would be correct. I can't give a definite answer to this question right now.

I hope that library includes:
Double Dragon
Smash TV
Sunset Riders
All the Zelda games
Chronotrigger

Smash TV is on Xbox Live Arcade. I have no idea if they have it exclusively, but I do know they have it.

But 2 things:
I hate Microsoft
Xbox live costs money

However anyone who doesn't despise Microsoft and can afford live download Smash TV. It's better than any of the games available for the 360 in Electronic Boutique.

Not necessarily. See my above post.

Also, aren't you the one that said you wished "fanboys would stop stating facts?" Maybe you should take your own advice.

I know I was the one that posted the article (I have since deleted the thread), but apparently, Sony has stated that the $500 will infact have wireless controllers. That article was comprised of mostly false information. They also say that the Blu-ray player will output a high def. picture over a component connection. Because of the ICT Flag, I do not see how that is possible, but they say it is.

I'm probably gonna get a $399 XBox 360 and a Wii. 360 for sport games, Wii for Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros. etc.

The $500 also wont have wifi capabilities and the $600 will and looks like the harddrive won't be upgradeable.

More importantly the $600 will have metallic lettering on the console.
