Explain to me how this is worse than major corporations being able to do the same thing (which they already do). Do you really think if we had a "national security emergency" that those companies wouldn't just do whatever the president wants anyway?

I'm not changing the subject at all. My contention was that you don't understand how this issue works. Someone is going to have control over the internet. it isn't just going to exist free floating. It never has been. Either way, everything you're complaining about can and probably would happen if a national security emergency happened. It doesn't matter what the definition is, corporations will and have in the past deferred to government national security requests.

The whole reason people are talking about net neutrality is because corporations currently control the internet and decided that the free flow of information is something people should pay more for. This just gives the government that control. Playing on everyone's ignorance, which is what you're doing, is stupid. You don't know what you're talking about.

so i didnt provide a link, whats wrong with asking people to look into things for themselves. i wasnt really trying to make anybodys opinnions up for them. the intent of me making this thread was to spur discussion so everyone could understand it a little better, and me trying to put a twist on it from the get-go wouldnt do that. by just making a brief statement, it would make people rather go out and look at something instead of just reading somebodies opinion and going by that
