I'm sure this has been discussed, but I never saw a thread so I'm making one.

Most of my friends and not-so-friends no that I'm a huge AFI fan. When Crash Love release, I'll be the first to admit that I was caught off guard...maybe slightly disappointed. But after giving it a second solid listen, I realized that the CD is a great move forward for a band who's been considered punk for over 10 years.

Sometimes, I seem to be the only one who thinks so. I hear it everywhere: "AFI sold out" "They're doing it for the money" and my favorite "They're starting to sound like everyone else." Really? Have you heard the damn CD? In my opinion, I think Crash Love is a highly original album. Like it or not. Sell outs or not. Cash or none. This album surely does not have that "trendy" sound that people are identifying.

Agree or Disagree?

Everytime a band with an established fanbase puts out a new album it's always deemed by some as "Not as good as the old shit, man" or "yo, total sellouts". With every AFI album comes this conversation. Not really worth wasting your time on anymore...

OMG IT'S SO WEIRD PEOPLE CARE ABOUT ETHICS AND MUSIC.

this band sucks. they've sucked since they stopped being a misfits tribute band, and even then, they were awful.

I don't see how they sounded like "a Misfits tribute band" on their first two albums.

Yeah, some people are stupid. They want bands to release the same album 15 times, and they expect a band to have career longevity doing this. It's dumb. I always respected AFI for doing something different, but not overtly different. Just different enough to where people who enjoyed their older stuff may possibly enjoy their newer, fresher sound. You always have some morons saying they "sold out" because they didn't re-release "Shut Your Mouth Open Your Eyes Pt. 7".

So what have we learned here? It is impossible to satisfy everyone.

Personally, I enjoyed a couple songs off Crash Love and think the album is decent.

You can't say they sold out they just changed naturally. I was a huge fan of decemberunderground but then again it was among the first cd's i bought. Crash love is good but very different

I used to love AFI, but honestly don't really feel the desire to listen to them anymore. That being said, I listened to Crash Love and thought it was horribly bland.

Sell-out discussion is beating a dead horse.

But with that I really enjoyed Crash Love. A lot of really catchy songs.

Crash Love is one of the albums I've most enjoyed this year. I love it. And I know AFI for ages, so...

if you want to go the OMG AFI SOLD OUT route, start with Sing the Sorrow.

I haven't heard any sell out discussion since Sing the Sorrow. I think if you call them a sell out ever its then when they crossed over to the mainstream with that album, although i don't think they are sell outs

afi has changed so much since they've started. many points could be labeled as them "selling out." it's best just to not care and enjoy the music.

I kinda disagree- they are growing older. As you grow older, you change, and so your music will change. Therefore, it is not a matter of them selling out.
At any rate, I was disappointed by crash love. But since have grown to love it. It is pure AFI, and to me- that is all that matters.

I am listening to it atm, I went from listening to Black sails in sunset to crash love and like both of them for completely different reasons, how could you possibly hate that.

They havent sold out, they have changed, its not the same.
