This movie is going to be very interesting movie. Could be the best one of them all, if they do it right.

i've heard that a lot. i like what they did with the story though. not exactly the comic book, but i think they did a good job with it anyway.
Personally, I'm excited as hell to see it.

yeah it looks good and all,but idk how its gonna be. im so excited for it but i wont be surprised if its a let down.
first of all, there should be more than 3 films. there are too many characters, too many untied lose ends, and to much of a million great stories to be told in a mere three films. even though its been focused very well up to this point, i do not see them fitting in all this stuff in the third film, something is going to be lacking amidst this huge war.
secondly, its not singer's project anymore, and that i fear may hurt it a little as well.

I think this movie could be awesome. I mean, I've been waiting years to see this huge battle. I mean, Phoenix and Magneto teaming up to kick ass? The Juggernaut? Fricken Beast (which I think will look great, based on previews). Angel? Man. Sure, Singer isn't directing, but he's not the only good director out there. I'm stoked and I think the movie will kick ass. Hopefully.

this movie could have been amazing if: they had kept Singer and done the phoenix saga right, and if that fucker Tom Rothman wasn't in charge of Fox.
It still could be good though. I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

i agree with most of your points. i'm just really optimistic about how this film is going to turn out. although i wish they would do more than just 3 movies because there is so much more to tell.
i am a little worried that it's singer's project, but as others have said, there are other directors out there. hope this one turns out well.

Apparently that analogy I was handed about the end of Brett Ratner's X-Men 3: The Last Stand (20th Century Fox, 5.26) being a bit like the finale of The Wild Bunch was not on the mark. Here's what Maxim critic Pete Hammond says, having recently seen it at on the Fox lot: "While there's a considerable amount of violence in the final battle scene plus a couple of others, it's not of the Sam Peckinpah variety but more in line with what we've all come to expect from these films. What astounded me is apparently Fox is determined to end the series with this one. It's flatly stated in the first line of the press notes: '....the climax of the X-Men motion picture trilogy.' Apparently there will be spinoffs including a Magneto film (Ian McKellen, great here again and by the far the best thing in The DaVinci Code) movie that is listed as 'announced' on IMDB as is Wolverine for Jackman, but who knows? There are definitely some surprising twists in Brett Ratner's film but perhaps the best of all is saved for absolute last in an end sequence after the final (endless) credits roll. Fox publicists told the handful of people at the screening to stay all the way through and it was worth it. (I'm usually the last person in the theatre when the lights come up.) I think Ratner put this last bit in there for the true fans. He's done an excellent job taking over for Bryan Singer, keeping the humanity and tone of the first two and adding his own thing. The action scenes are dynamite. For me this was the best of the three films. It will be interesting to see the reaction when it screens on Monday in Cannes and at the all-media screening [in Los Angeles]."

I wish it was longer than that, but I still think that it'll be good. I heard that the ending will be awesome from many reviews and such. Will it be the best of the series? Possibly. I don't expect this to suck, I know it'll be good. This is going to be the first movie I'm going to see in theaters in a long time. I haven't gone to the movies in months.

Personally, I think blockbusters have been getting too long winded lately. I'm glad to finally see one that will actually be efficient and action packed. For example, I heard that Superman Returns takes 45 minutes before a single action set piece. I know I'm going to love it, but X3's pace seems to be more the speed I look for in my "comic book movies."

from what i've read this is going to be a sweet movie. i'm sad that it's going to be the last one in the series because they could have this go on for a long time and no one would get bored. there are tons of people pissed that gambit didn't get in it, when he had been in the books for a long time.

i bet there will be another x-men movie, it may take us about 10 to 15 years to get it, but someone will write a different story for the x-men characters. not saying it's going to be as good or better, but i bet someone will make one sometime.

It won't be the last one, nor will it take that long. They're probably saying that to inspire desperation in fans. "Maybe we see it 10 times and they'll make another one!" Hello $250+ million, hello X4 in...3 years, maybe 4. We'll see, but I bet there is another one before the turn of the decade, because this movie is going to make bank.

I don't exactly have the highest hopes for X3. While I loved the first two, and I'm sure I'll enjoy this on some level, it seems wrong somehow that they went from Bryan Singer, the guy who directed The Usual Suspects, to Brett Ratner, the guy who directed Rush Hour 2. And he wasn't even their second choice.
Superman Returns has me geeking out so much more.

you are most likely right that someone will start it up again because no way in HELL is this cast going to come together again for an X4. No matter how much it makes, they have all said it WILL NOT HAPPEN.
Go look at Jackman's recent interviews...they all have too much ego and want solo movies..
Wolverine, Magneto and Storm are all in pre-production anyways.

i was looking up Ian McKellen (brilliant actor who plays Magneto) and on this site: imdb.com it lists all the work he's done and the top of the list said: Magneto(2007)(announced)(attatched) ...Eric Lensherr/Magneto. So it looks like we'll have an X-Men 4 soon. It's categorized as being in production.Plot Outline: A young Magneto seeks revenge on the Nazis who killed his family while befriending a young Charles Xavier.

Umm.. I dunno what to think about it yet. I can't help but think they need to need feature more characters in these movies and develop the ones they have.
The Juggernaut is a huge character and he seemed to be a misfit found in a truck who was strong as hell. One thing that was cool as hell is he did say "don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch!" the movie theatre including me, clapped.
Everyone's dead, everyone's not dead. Everyone has powers, everyone doesn't have powers, then gets powers again. I dunno, I liked the movie, but it needs to have a storyline with many characters and stick to it.
One thing that I still can't get used to is the costumes. I know the director is trying to strive for the "they are almost human" thing and give them normal outfits and such, but it's to normal. They are mutants for pete sake. I wanna see Wolverine with a mask, even if they wanna tone down his suit.
And as always this movie is much more different then the comic.

While watching X3, I thought the actor playing him looked fimiliar, now i remember who he is, i think he was one of the bad guys in Rush Hour. The guy that said to Chris Tuckers character 'Fight like a man'. Anyone know if that was him for sure.

I thought it was a good movie. I don't think that it's the best of the series, but certainly good. It could have easily been much better, but I still enjoyed it. I loved the ending to the movie personally. My only problem is, is that it all seemed to come at you quick. Oh well.
The new characters weren't good at all, except for the Beast. I'm disappointed with parts of the movie, but it was good regardless.
Also, the little part after the credits was fucking awesome. At least in my opinion. I kinda saw it coming though, but I wasn't sure if they'd do that.
PS. Hahaha the SOAP teaser trailer was awesome. EVERYONE was cracking up in the theater. I loved it. It's gonna sell like crazy.

clarifying the spoilers
alright they "killed" off cyclops because the guy who plays him wont be doing anymore xmen films and left midway through filming to shoot Superman Returns..
And they "killed" Prof. X's body because Pat stewart wont be doing more of the movies but they still need that character. If they make more movies they will probably just use different storylines that still have the characters alive.

I thought it was a good movie contained in a shell that should have been great. They combined two of the best X-Men storylines ever (Cure from Astonishing and Dark Phoenix saga from Uncanny) and gutted them, rearranged them and generally redid them. At the same time, given the situation, they did about as well as they could all things considered - it's not like they could just randomly bring in the Shi'ar and send them to space and have the Hellfire Club and all that, plus somehow throw Magneto and the cure in it. They should have used stuck to one storyline and had a focus on that. Not to mention, there needs to be more real X-Men. The X-Kids are cool and all, but only having Beast, Wolverine and Storm really kind of dampened the whole thing. They should have kept Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, amongst other things. I heard from a previous script about some of the things they might do, and it was sad to see them happen because certain people are integral to everything that is X related. With that said, this turned out significantly better than a lot of people thought it would with the director (Ratner) and the time they had. I didn't have my geek buzz going after the movie, but it was still really enjoyable and the after credits scene was sweet. Also, Moira McTaggert = hot.

i guess nightcrawler doesnt exist or something , how do you lose a character in a trilogy at least in the new star wars they kept jar jar binks shown in the background, but made sure he didnt speak.(after the first one ) i mean nightcrawler was the whole 2nd movie, and they needed more than 3 core x men after they lost cyclopes and xavier, they had so many options to add cool x men. i would have love to see a bishop/gambit/forge or someone thats not a kid, they had so many options and lost a good nightcrawler, and had to many shit little kids that had one lines. although i liked that girl that walked through walls, she was hot shit. the im the juggernaugt bitch by vinnie jones was funny, the nerd herd at the top all ejaculated in their pants when he said it.

Gambit is seriously overrated and cursory fans of the comics are bigger fans of him than anyone else. He's nowhere near as important as introducing Beast or Shadowcat, or improving on the roles of Iceman and Colossus. Also, no more powers for Rogue? Magneto? Mystique? They sort of backed themselves into a hole with this movie, but you know comics always bring back powers and/or people to life. No one is dead and no one lost their powers, permanence is a tricky word in the comic book universe.

i guess you missed the end when magneto moves the fucking chess piece....
but anyway the new magneto movie looks awesome, he vows revenge against nazi scum for killing his parents...i guess its a pre x-men story, like when him and charles first became pals. but thats what i heard. it would be cool if they did that.
i loved it. great summer popcorn movie, and a great way to wrap up the trilogy (so they can next do a wolverine spinoff and then start a new trilogy after that). i wouldn't call it perfect and it wasn't quite as good as x2 (one of my favorite movies period), but i really don't get why some people are calling it "awful". variety and the hollywood reporter referred to it as the "return of the jedi" of the x-men series. ok, i'll take that. jedi is my favorite star wars movie.

I believe the point of that scene was he did not move that chess piece. I'm not really sure how you saw that or what you saw, but it most definitely stayed stationary there chief.
Edit: On IMDB there's quite the debate between whether or not it moved. Half the people saw it move, the other half said it stayed stationary. Looks like we're in the thick of it man.

i just got back from it. i went in extemely worried because i've never been a fan of ratner and it seemed like they were going to try to fit too much in there.
however, i was pleasantly surprised. it wasn't super great, but it wasn't nearly as bad as expected.
phoenix was wasted. i'd rather her not even be in this one than have her as irrelevant as she was. i like the grooming of the younger ones, so they can keep making the movies even when the core of them don't want to make them anymore. i was excited about ben foster as angel cause i like him in most things, but he was kind of wasted. i understand his purpose in it, but would have liked to see more of him.
overall, it could have been loads better. there were emotional parts, and those were done very well. but minus those moments it just felt like you were watching a movie. singer was able to avoid that in the first two and make you feel very involved with every aspect of it. ratner didn't do that. there was a bit too much in there, leaving less time to explain the things enough to make them as interesting as they should be. the characters weren't as relateable as the first few. they just weren't as easy enough to care about. things that should have been bigger deals were just kind of pushed to the back.
i hope to god there's a 4 and beyond. there's too many great characters and years of story ideas to end it after three. but, if they try to tackle the whole apocalypse thing, i'll be iffy, cause they need to do that right.

i guess we just disagree. they already tried to do too much in this one. tacking on an explanation and backstory of a very minor character in the movie would have just added to that.
and basically, every character for the most part is more complex than they treatment they're given. but it's a movie, they can't get into everybody's complexities.
